Hi guys. Glad to be home finally.

Holy Crap. What a weekend. 3 nights of -42 degrees and days of only -20 Glad I had the block heater cord fixed or I would have been in deep do-do. Coming home today, I ran into a snow storm. About a foot of snow on the road for over 50 miles after going 100 miles thru 4-6 inches on the first part of the roadway. Finally came the plows at milepost 78.. That didn't matter on my side of the road though. I ran from milepost 240 to 53 in deep snow. That was a real knuckle twister.

I averaged 14.9 going up to Fairbanks, and was at 15.3 coming home when I filled up Now when I got out of the snow,. I was down to 11.7 mpgs. Hard to get any mileage in that deep crap. LOL. But, all in all, it was a nice trip. as long as you were inside.

im jealous! we have had a pretty crappy winter (well some would say they enjoyed it). We had snow shortly after halloween (still fall lol) and then have had 2 dustings since then that was melted within an hour or two. We also haven't had our "deep freeze" where the ground freeze so that has kept everything a sloppy mess. Lots of rain and 40 degree temps. Id much prefer 10 degree weather to 40s. If its gunna be mildly cold to cold id rather it just be really cold! lol

Glad you made it back safe tho its never fun to drive unplowed interstates and highways!

Couple pics from the weekend.

First is Mt Denali on the way to Fairbanks on Thursday. The second was this morning in North Pole. The

Dog died so the Ford towed him to wherever they were going to.

AK, that sounds like a real mess! I'm guessing those mpgs were from Red? Seems like it did really well, especially if that was on a winter gas blend.

Hey FordGuy, If you hate 40ºs stay away from the northwest. It has been 40somethingº and raining for a month. Flooding and mudslides have dominated the news. This week we have a few days of sun in the 40ºs before going back to rain in the 40ºs. At least it is light out when I leave work again.

It raises a number of questions with me. First, wouldn't someone in a 35 mph zone notice that 85 mph doesn't work there? With that much control turned over to technology will it become habitual to quit paying attention to where you're at? I also doubt there is anywhere in CA where there is a posted 85 mph speed limit. This also says this level of autonomy isn't connected to GPS. One of the promises of autonomous driving is the link to GPS and other technology to know driving conditions, roadwork locations, traffic jams to mitigate congestion, weather, etc. All this is aside from the current level of autonomous driving where idiots think they can read a book or use phone apps instead of paying attention. There's a long way to go if there is no looking for let alone no ability to recognize simple conflicts between data and inputs now. I also don't think this is a Tesla problem considering the Tesla system isn't theirs. I'm sure the contracting company is looking to market their system to more than just Tesla.

So last Friday, Comcast had a major outage. One of the road crews that is replacing the bridge on I-80 hit one of Comcast's fiber lines. Comcast has a policy of giving credits (if you ask) if their service goes down for 4 or more hours. I just contacted them, and got half off my bill.

Sometimes the one year old SMA videos pop up in my Youtube feed. This one was a classic to remember. I think I would have pissed or crapped my pants when this rotor finally gave way.
