Didn't someone here do the same thing recently ?
That was me, Brew. I went with THIS MAYTAG. It's scheduled to be delivered on the 28th.

Black Friday is supposed to bring some good appliance deals.

Whitey, be *very* careful with that job. Those springs are no joke. I've *adjusted * mine, but I think i would hire out a replacement job.

Find a guy w a Ford and swap some work???
It's a two-handed job, and if one hand slips, half of the time it can be v bad. If you get tired even 5%, set it aside for 30 minutes. The simple tools must be up to snuff, not v v v cheap, and are not useful for much else.

I'm a reasonably staunch DIY'er, like folks here, but while the cost tradeoff for use-once tools is only just fair, add in the danger of it, it's a head-scratcher which way to go. It's not like a complicated thing to be so proud of... More like juggling lit cherry bombs. Make that M-80's. Some will be in awe; others will worry to live near such a crazy person... 🤣 And changing your oil is more interesting. Falling asleep doing it is an added danger. 🥱🤭🫢🤫

It may be the most simple, most dangerous, most unappreciated job around. My partner/boss would hire it out, but he had no patience for repetitive tedium. He gave me that work, and didn't want to risk me.

Go for it, but Full Speed Ahead - never applies here.

This is what I ordered. It comes with the tools for tensioning. If Ron comes over and helps me out, I should be fine. We're always on the same page.... kinda have that espn thing going on.

Got more than we were after. Went with a GE dishwasher and a newer monster 36" exhaust fan hood for the stove. That thing can move some CFM's...as much as some whole house fans

Very nice. Did you do stainless? My Wife wants (another) new dishwasher. I bet we've had 7 or 8 now in the 20 years we've been married.

Yeah, she wants to convert everything over to the dark stainless, but you pretty much would have to sell everything and start over. Doesn't want it that bad.

The baskets wore in our last, the coating which exposed the metal inside. There were some sharp areas we weren't conferrable with.. Sort of strange, it wasn't that old...6 or 7 years maybe.

BTW- I was jk'ing about the CFM's ..I really have no idea how much that hood is going to suck.

Had a Kenmore washer/dryer set I thought I could make last forever once. Repaired them quite a few times. Got them to last almost until the last kid moved out.

Like everyone is saying BE CAREFUL!

We had a door company come and replace one spring on a 14' overhead door.
While he was winding it, he slipped, and it smacked him in the forehead.
He was lucky he had the other bar in already, it slammed into the header about the same time.
But he had a large red bump right in the middle of his forehead.

He came down off the ladder and took a break.
Said he was seeing stars for a few seconds.
He was lucky it didn't break his nose or take an eye out.

Both of us being their computer proved beneficial as we got Black Friday prices early. Well, it was mentioned anyway...yeah, I need to check that to be sure it actually occurred lol.
