Went to the firing range for the first time ever with my FIL yesterday. First time ever shooting a gun too. I'm just glad I hit the paper. .243 rifle. I had a lot of fun even though I only fired off 2 rounds
I really wish appliances would still last like that. The stove and the fridge have been really good but the dishwasher has been... iffy.
My GE Dishwasher, new ~ 1995, digital, their best, lasted almost 2 months, and iffy until then.
But economic pressures have brought out the best in the engineers, and you know their old axiom - a properly designed race car falls apart as it crosses the finish line in 1st place. That's 5 yrs for the best dishwasher. 😏

Left to Right. Excellent! Curious the vertical is so high. Open sights???
Long time shooter, here. 243's have a comparatively flat trajectory... Often used for small long distance varmint shooting. Dad once took down a failed, dangling high-V power line for a farmer. (243 Weatherbee) It was killing his cattle but the pwr co couldn't care less. He just left them a few feet, up high, to someday work with. Odd no downstream customer complained over their power loss. And probably why he pwr co could not cate less.

my FIL had the scope set too high, he fired 2 rounds off first and he shot just as high as i did.
He adjusted it down and then he hit more center, i didn't fire any more as he didn't have a lot of ammo

High powered rifles hit a bullseye at 100 yds, bullet rising, and again at 300 yds as it descends A lil' ole 22 does this at 25 & 100 yds. The ammo is cheap, tho', you cannot reload as you can a larger cartridge.. a fun hobby in itself. A 22 with a 4x scope is great for rabbits' head shots to 125 yds in the hands of a practiced novice. Great practice gun. (Hint.) Left to right, your "grouping" was centered, and vertically, while high, was also tight, VERY tight for a total newbie. Be v proud. You are a natural.
next time, he wants to shoot some hand guns, he said thats a lot of fun doing that.
There are a few scoped, bolt action 243 handguns. The powder is different than for a 243 rifle as it must burn faster. Not hugely useful, but fun. Again, the 22 is the trainer of choice. Police used to have a 22 version of their 38 revolver for initiate practice. Good for rabbits, left-handed, from a moving vehicle in the desert off road... Even if you are right handed. S&W. Again, cheap ammo. LR/Long Rifle cartridges and gun are suggested. Shorts can be shot in the same gun. They are tools to me, so I never liked the term, weapon. I've not tried nor studied the newer magnum 22's. Unsure of their purpose. A few more yards???
