Hmmm... Those look familiar. Where I seen those wheels before?

Buck0, nice! So mine are 18X10's and 18X9's. I'm going to fiddle around with it soon.... but it's almost guaranteed my quad shocks are gone. I'll need to put my welded control arms in to help.

These are 20's. 255 35 in front and 275 35 in back. Not sure of the rim width but definitely wider in the back. Oil and filter changed when I got it. Front sway bar bushings just got installed. New front lower control arms and sway bar end links this weekend. Plugs and coils are on the way. Rear diff oil soon. I don't have maintenance records for this so I'm just starting as if it needs it all. That way I at least have a baseline moving forward.

I'm not too sure if the "JJ" is an indication of the offset? Here are the specs I found though.

Offset is usually "etxx" where xx is mm.

Very helpful!

I've sifted through sooo many hours of ancient threads full of arguing and general internet stupidity and I'm still on the fence whether I really would want to do this. Here's what I'm still struggling to answer:
  1. Is the Volvo relay robust enough for use with the Mark VIII fan?
  2. Is the Volvo relay "soft start"?
  3. I found a thread that said a practically-universal VW switch was also a good choice, but they make a hundred variations of that switch and I can't find specs I trust for the temps. I'm only giving this any thought because it looks like the harness parts might not be available for the BMW switch anymore, and they come from older cars that will be nearly impossible to find in a junkyard.

There are actually two versions of the Mark VIII fan. There's a variable speed, and a two speed. The Volvo relay is not a "soft start" per se, but it will start on low, and low isn't nearly as big of a spike as starting on high. So, to answer the question - it is robust enough. I plan on using a Volvo relay with whatever I put on the truck - which will be a Cougar or Crown Vic fan. Those Crown Vic fans are pretty rocking too, BTW. FWIW - the 4.6 Cougar/T-Bird actually used the same fan as the 2 speed Mark VIII.

The VW/Audi switches are harder to find, and generally cost more, and there are (as you said) an abundance of confusing variations. The parts are available for the BMW harness still. In fact, you can buy the harness as a kit now - whereas before, I had to piece it together. AND, you can get the whole kit with a sensor on ebay as of late:

Just need to check on those temps.
