I went to Duncan's dog house the other day to swap out his dog bed, and discovered yellowjackets flying in and out. Here's what I saw when I looked inside.
This is what it looked like a couple hours later when the sun was down.
No more yellowjackets.
I had those little bastards trying to set up shop on my front porch. Found this one in my neighbors tree last summer.... it was huge.
They live underground around here. Hard as heck to kill down there.
Usually need to pour gallons or soapy water (or gasoline) down their holes. Do it at night after finding all exits and blocking those with screen wire.
Usually, around here, an above ground nest like y'all are showing are these things
Bald Faced Hornets.
Just as mean and trice as big. Love eating honeybees too.
Their warning is about three coming over to sting you in the face.

LOL... good idea Brew. I'll use those in Scrabble too. I'll never forget my Dad using "Bomag" once. We asked him "what the hell is a Bomag?". He said "it's a soil compactor". We let him slide on that one... so soune and coneciton should be golden.
Noobs, ours are technically Yellow Jackets. They also can live in the ground. Most of them have nests/hives on the side of houses, fences, etc. They really like building on wood. We have also started getting Mud Daubers here too.
