This reminds me : I still have the LS carrier assy from my '99 squirreled away. I should at least get that rebuilt and put in the' 03, even if I'm not going to do the gears.

File it next to your spare alternator

The spare alt is there for insurance that the existing one will never go bad. The LS, though I could use. I haven't wanted to spend the dough for the gear change, and that's when I thought it would be about $2200. Now COStruck told me he was quoted $3K (same shop). I just can't do it. Shouldn't be too bad to swap out the carrier though and I need to change the fluid anyway. (Wonder if I'll need friction modifier. )

EDIT: I still have the G2 aluminum cover I bought back then, too.

So in Canada it might be close to $1 K for an S829
Okay then use the 828. You will just have a 1 wheel wonder in the snow and ice. 829's are limited slip. I would think that in Canada, like Alaska, Limited slip would be a no-brainer.

Exactly....that's a factory rebuild... 130/160 amp max isn't it?

Huh, would of thought for sure you had a LS in that truck. It's 5four/9.75 isn't it ? What, no tow package ?

Modifier....

It's like being invested in a woman you're interested in, you pamper her, spend $$$ on her, you go out for a drive to beautiful places and then what?
What's your return on investment ?
You find out she's ruined and blown out !!!
Or she has 10 cats....

Brew: Yes. I rebuilt the one from the '99 and put it on the shelf. The' 03 has a high-current stator upgrade and rebuild as well.

Nope. Weird, I know. Yes, 5.4 and 9.75, and yes, factory tow package (with upgraded cooler and dual-core rad also from the '99).
