I heard that, Brew. Watched some guy on YT explaining what "his" thoughts. I didn't agree with him. I don't feel Matt has the ability to do something that is deceiving as they tried to make it out to be. I think he's a genuine person.

I talked to my friend about going down to Hurricane for one of MORR's events. I think we'll end up going for sure. My friend is somewhat new to UT, and hasn't really spent any time down south. So it might turn into an extended stay.

I'll tell you what... it's amazing how many friends you get when you have a Mustang sitting out front.

I don't think so.
No Contest is STILL a criminal conviction.
Good luck with that on your record & moving forward in life.

I saw a video from some TV news station (from near Hurricane) and even the AAA spokesperson said they thought he was just trying to help people who needed help, but that AAA still needed the money back.

Considering dropping a flex fuel engine in, since I'm doing a swap, anyway. I'd just need a puter, which I could add later, Yes??? (We sometimes get "summer formation" gas in Calif.)

It gets 30-40 mpg, cty/hwy, while I am fixing my '01, and gas is $5.19. Yeah, it is a tad cramped. But the 16.5 psi turbo even w just 1500cc does ok. And it parks anywhere. But her name is on it and mine is on the 4x4.

Was the sentence considered a misdemeanor or felony?
If you are already established and have a business and decent $, neither will hurt you much depending on the state you live in.
In my state, only if it were a felony, one would lose a couple rights, like carry a handgun and vote for a short time. A misdemeanor carries no penalty other than the judgement. (I am not a Utah or Virginia attorney)
A misdemeanor would only hurt his business getting new bonding IF it is is a LLC or similar. If his is a c or s corp will won't harm at all with either mis. or felony
A felony MAY hurt ability to get contracts with a few entities, like municipal contracts that handle people or money.
Once established, I wouldn't expect either to hurt the business he is in.
I bet he already negotiated and planned the payment of the restitution.

Edit:
Looked up Winder Towing corp data. They are a full corporation so there will be no business fallout from this.

Edit 2:
Per this article. it was a misdemeanor.
It should have no impact on his life or finances other than paying the fines and restitution.

Exactly. It wasn't malicious or intentional...Matt doesn't have that in him. If anything this made him more human.

Matt also does a lot of non profit fund raising. That's been a constant since he first got involved. I wouldn't be surprised if the judge received quite a few character reference letters from those organizations.

He wasn't let off the hook. Punishment was fair and fitting and he maned up without appeal.

The case was good example of no-contest vs a guilty plea. It takes both sides to be on the level for that.
