My ex had a '95 4Runner when we met. Took it to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons and man was it a dog on hills! You know it's bad when you're getting passed by semi trucks!
As for interference engines vs. non, unless a manufacturer is trying for every bit of compression, why?
Correct, they "barely get out of their own way" IMO
Those 95s had 3.0 liters and were underpowered to say the least
My 97 has a 3.4 but is not much better for acceleration
They are up to 4.7 liters now and a little better still
I have not looked at a brand new one yet to see the engine options but they sure are expensive.
I walk past them at the dealer buying parts
I'll never have a new one, I know that, unless I win the lottery
I have a 97 4Runner
I love it, inherited it
Toyota timing belt is no problem IMO after doing a couple
Ford Escort is worse for instance, special tools and all that just to get the damper off and the tensioner
True story about "do not like" me either, if the timing belt goes your mill is lunched in most cases
Some Toyotas and Lexus's are free flowing engines thank God
Not sure about his or mine, Just do not ever let one go long enough to fail is the key
I just feel that a V8 should have a chain(s), personally. Even my 1.5 Toyota has a chain.
It is safe to drive a 4WD truck with no CV axles installed? The hubs don't need the axle in it right?
IFAIK only some VWs use the CV axle to hold the hub bearings at the correct tension.
I'm fairly certain those bearings require the preload from the CV nut.
More mysteries uncovered. The Supertech filter is made by Fram. The Fram I opened is a Toughgard, so I think that's why the cartridge is taller. BUT, without a doubt made by Fram.
This one here though. It threw me. There is zero doubt in my mind that this Purolator Tech is the same as a WIX Pro-Tec/Microgard/Auto Extra.
