This maybe a controversial opinion but if I could choose between the 1st gen and 2nd gen bronco to take home I would have to take the second gen.
It depends on purpose, - for the woods and the mud, first gen or current gen. My buddy in HS had an early 80's, - nice Bronco. He could talk girls into posing half naked on the hood of that truck.....that was his thing...yep, fun friend lol.
If you really get down to it, there isn't much other than body design difference between the 78-79 model, then the 80-96 models. Same with the Pickups. Solid front axle yes, IFS in 80 up, but nothing else different. Engine, trans, rear ends were the same, until they dropped the 351400 after the 82 model year. Oh yeah, no 300 in the 78-79's.
Personally, I like the drive of the Gen 2. It doesn't feel as loose in the *** as the 80 up does. A good clean 78 79 will bring you good return on money too over the Gen 3/4's value. Baarrett Jackson like the value of those too. They go high there.
I finally got my current main computer up to speed. My wifi card, I find is too slow, small, underpowered, etc. I decided to run an ethernet cable and holy crap. It went from 21Mbs to almost 95.5Mbs. Wow. Now on to my power supply so I can find my other lists.
Whitey, how is that dock system working out for you that you got off Amazon?
Ohhhh... yeah, LOL. I love it. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. There is so much it will do that I am not even utilizing. I use it strictly for movie/tv show streaming. DHCP, DNS Server, Web Hosting.... This is a very small glimpse of what it can do. It's a Linux based OS, but it does have its own security as well.
BTW, this has 2 bays in it. I run the 4TB HD's as a RAID, so they mirror each other. I can split them and run them at 8TB if I ran out of space though.
Actually been thinking about getting the 4 bay version with a faster CPU, more RAM, and a 4 disk RAID.
