I'm a Ford person 💯 myself except the 5.4 too because you have to take meticulous care of them! Even then you still will more then likely have problems! I have a 4.6 and I love it! It's got 200,000 and who ever owed it before didn't take very good care of it so it's starting to have issues probably not used to having regular oil changes!

From my warranty days at Ford, we had the first of the 5.4s and had some crank issues with them locally. Since then, no more problems with the lower end. Plugs? Coils? As long as you keep Motorcraft you are good to go. .Keep the plugs torqued at 28 and you should never have a plug blow out.

After reflection, I have come to really like the 5.4, if it's maintained correctly. The 4.6 and 5.4 are good engines, as long as you keep them up. Like any other brand. Just don't shortcut maintenance and you are good.

But you will never give me a 400M.

I can't really tell from that picture either. I'm thinking a '6' block not a Romeo. But I can't tell from the angle. Can't read the number in middle either. Pixels out when blown up.

I held on to the 2006 Escape for my daughter to drive because of it's safety features. I sent her out to go to the store, and 5 minutes later get a call that she's been in an accident. The driver in the car in front of her slammed on their brakes because they missed their turn, and you know what happened next. She got the ticket for following too close. But most importantly, the old Escape took one for the team. My oldest and my youngest were in the car together, and aside from a slight concussion, they are both OK.

I started it at the scene, and was going to drive it home. However, it had other plans... it died about 5 seconds later. I suspect the inertia switch... but wasn't really in a position to try and find it in the middle of the road. So, the cop called a wrecker for me.... and it was just 168 dollars to tow it about 9/10ths of a mile. I'm in the wrong business. The driver was kinda itching to tow it to his own yard... but I wasn't having that.

I popped the hood to disconnect the battery after we got it home... and took a little inventory. It needs a hood, headlights, grille, radiator, possibly A/C condenser.... airbags, and I assume sensor (s). Soooo.... we'll see if it's even worth fixing. No leaks though, so that's probably a good sign. If I could get one of these with a blown motor or something, I'd be set.

Good morning thinkers!- Ha ha, AK!- If that was me, ol’ Bern would only be the appetizer!-
As for the engine debate, my old ‘03 had the 5.4, with 167,000 on it when i traded it in. Honestly, ( i know I didnt put many miles on it) i couldnt have asked any more from an engine- it started EVERY TIME i hit the switch, other than changing oil and a new serpentine belt, i really had NO ISSUES. And it would sit outside for days, sometimes weeks on end without moving, all year long! Its too bad it was put in rust prone body!
As for the 400M- Dad had one in a ‘77(?)( it was dent side, none the less,)and it was good engine, over 100,000, nothing to write home about, but it never give him any problems. Just normal maintenance stuff.
Dang White, im glad every one is doing ok- boy it could have been worse!- still, well keep you all lifted up in prayers!
Whew!- You fellers have a great day!- be safe-
its coffee time!!

Speaking of the 400.... my Buddy with the trans shop asked me to put this thing up for sale for him. He bought it from another friend of mine, and it has had the entire brake system replaced, new fuel tank... bunch of other stuff too that is new.

Have any of you sold anything on Ebay lately? What a damn nightmare. They don't let you take PayPal anymore, and getting paid is just stupid.

The new interface for selling is so damn difficult to navigate. Thinking about just switching over to FB MP for good.

I'm happy the girls were pretty much okay white. Sucks about the car. Does this mean it's bound to make yet another appearance on the 89garage channel ?
