See.... everything is all better now. These things are struggling to idle.
Mine struggled to idle when I fired it up for the first time the other night.... Then it revved to about 3K and blew the bypass hose off (it wasn't clamped, thank gawd) before I could shut it back down. That's what happens when you have a (big) leak at the intake mating surface, an ECU calling for fuel because the supercharger is pumping air through the MAF, and a bypass valve that's closed because it sees no vacuum due to the aforementioned vacuum leak. *That* is how I realized the intake wasn't setting flush, and was ever-so-slightly hung up on the valve cover. Talk about an "Oh, Shiiii" moment!

I have three H-Pipes - one catted, one gutted, and one of road..... BUTI think I am going to get an X pipe.
I like the sound of an "H" better, but it's a very subjective thing. If you want a drone-less system, the DynoMax VT series mufflers have gotten good feedback from folks. Fun Fact: I actually took part in a focus group for that product way back when.

Those actually were recalled from the market because they were breaking the springs inside, rattling, and droning.
The X is an attempt to get rid of the drone.... a friend of mine has an X, and his is much less noticeable than mine is. He has Thrush welded mufflers though, so I am hoping my MAC Flowpath's will do the same thing. To get this thing to car shows, I spend a lot of its time on the freeway at 2000-2200 rpm, so getting this thing to not drone will be awesome. If this doesn't work, my next thing is going to be using two different mufflers.
I didn't realize that. It's been awhile since I looked at the market. Funny, Googing "DynoMax VT springs breaking" nets only a couple of hits. I recall a discussion on Corral about that awhile ago, but I seem to recall only I w case being discussed. Too bad. It was a "best of both worlds" design.
There's a long thread on Corral about using Helmholtz tubes (or branch resonators) to tune out the drone. I installed a set on my '95 with DynoMax Super Turbos, and the drone is now minimal. It's about the only proven way to knock it out. Search "drone gone Helmholtz," and you should find the thread.
EDIT: Here's THE THREAD (18 pages). HERE is a post with my info consolidated. Different people have said different lengths worked for them, but all are seem to be in the 23-30" range.
EDIT: Corsa made a muffler set that was supposed to be drone-free, but I'm not sure if they're still available.

Eastwood flaring tool came early! It's nice and makes a nice flare but the stamping on the flare is backwards so the instructions are flipped. (Saw that problem on the Eastwood knockoff, was hoping to avoid it buy going with namebramd) no big deal, I'll just have to pay attention when using it. I'll let them know tho so they can fix the problem. It sure does make a nice double flare! And easily at that!
Oh btw just my luck, tool comes in early before our camping trip and I end up at the ER @ 4:30 this morning with kidney stone pain... FML

They are really good mufflers. I love the sound of them.... in fact, they replaced my old Super Turbos. I noticed a seat-of-the-pants feel, but I also went from welded in stock 2 1/4 system to a 2 1/2 mandrel bent in the process.
