I was adamant about no catheters with both of my surgeries. I don't need anything going in.... just out.

I'm not sure I'd go for anesthesia (spelling, think that's it lol), might opt for magazine. Although it may be a lot better no a days.

In all 9 surgeries, (shoulder 1, left knee (3), rt knee (1), and back (4), I slept thru them all. Never had a catheter ever. Every surgery kept me overnight, except the last one. I went home the same night when they fused my back. I had it at 8 am and was home at 830 pm. The doctor didn't want to let me out, but the wife was a nurse, so he let me go. She changed my bandages and such, so I had better care at home.

Luckily I've never needed to be cathed. I get the unlucky choice of having a colon exam next week though. This is a job I wouldn't like to have, unless I only had women patients. My luck would be wide loads only. lol

There is an anesthetic they can give you that does'nt knock you clear out, just like a real deep sleep- thats what they used when i had carpal tunnel surgery and my colonoscopy- piece of cake in them cases,

Yea, haven't had the pleasure of surgery yet. Had a full physical recently and that colon thing was suppose to be part of it, butt, there was an alternative to that and I went that route lol. If you know what I mean.

Yeah, if theres no issues, thats the norm.( if you can call that normal!) lol- i hope you can avoid any surgery! They tell you, eat right, exercise, blah blah- if youve had or have kids, especially in sports, its down right hard to be healthy!!
Keep doing your best to stay healthy, J,- use chainfalls, lifts, whatever to save your back, and knees-i shoulda known back then, but....

I've had two colonoscopy/endoscopy's done. It isn't near as bad as it sounds. I did great with both of those procedures coming out of anesthesia... although I am told I had jokes for everyone. However, both surgeries must have used a different medicine because I had my blood pressure go extremely high. After it happened on the first surgery, I told the anesthetist that it happened before, so he was prepared.

.......... oh and I did the colonoscopy and endoscopy the 2nd time because they found polyps (benign) and had me come back in 3 years later.

I'll just say this... the first time was under the old healthcare system, and was 170 dollars. The second one was under this new BS, and cost me 3,200 dollars. Ridiculous, eh?

I had a exam 6 years ago and this is the regular time one. When I had it before, I didn't go under. I stayed awake and watched the whole procedure. The nurse (short funny cute black RN) was rolling on the floor from what I was describing and feeling. She told me I could be her patient anytime. I asked her, was it my cute butt or my mouth. She told me a bit of both. The tech was just shaking his head and laughed that he should of put me under. My mouth sometimes overloads my azz. It's an Alaskan (hell, make that an US thing) thing. Must of picked that up from the Texan's when the pipeline was being built. Famous Alaskan saying from the mid-70's. "Happiness is a Texan going home, with an Okie under each arm". They were some rowdy SOB's in pipeline building days.

Funniest thing I remember from then was when Steve McQueen and James Arness came up for a fishing (?) trip. Some kind of relaxing deal anyways. They got drunk, had a rented Olds Tornado, and decided to start spinning brodies in the middle of 4th ave (main at the time). Then he (McQueen) drag raced up and down the street, before being arrested for DWI. There is a mug shot of McQueen in the AK Archives.
