Thinking
The A-Series is Pioneer's middle of the road. Their G series aren't much better, if any, than a stock speaker. I have 4 of their A-Series 5 1/4" (TS-A1370F) speakers in my Toyota. Not the greatest speakers, but worlds above the Toyota speakers I pulled out of it. For stock speakers, Ford really doesn't do a bad job in comparison to some of the crap I've seen over the years.
The A-Series is actually a good compliment if you have a sub, IMO. Everyone's ears are different though, LOL.

.............that was completely stock. The looks on their faces were classic.
LOL ^
I use to be into Clarion systems way back when. Haven't seen them in awhile, not sure they still exist lol.
I've never had any luck with Pioneer 3 way speakers for the doors in the 98. I couldn't get those to sound good and would end up disconnecting. The 12" speakers and Kenwood amp under the back seat worked for everything. Yea,never found any use for tweeters as well.

Here's my TV set up. Sansui towers, Polk audio center, onkyo receiver, and sub I don't know the brand of. Got this setup from my audiophile boss when he sold his house, once again free is great lol
Lol , Calrion had a home stereos lol. (?)
Damn man, you were a headbanger Fordguy. Nice pad man, wheres your bong hiding lol.
I purchased an old Cutlass in high school, it was my official pizza delivery car for a short time. Anyway, nothing special but it had a crap stereo that sounded exceptionally good. Upon investigation, the only that was different about it, it had Alpine speakers behind the back seat, just 6x9's but man did they sound good. No amp or Eq, just those Alpines lol.

Sansui is a name I've not heard lately. Clarion is still around, though - www.clarion.com. So is Blaupunkt. Another "blast from the past" for me.

Well, the price was right!
"Good" is relative, as you note. Compared to the factory speakers, I'm *certain* they sound better, especially "clearer" like you say, since they have dedicated tweeters rather than just a full-range driver.. I replaced the factory fronts in my '99 with a set of name brand 3-ways that I picked up cheap (Pioneers, I think) which sounded better. I moved them to the '03, and again, they sounded pretty good. Then I installed the Alpine Type R coaxials, and was surprised at how much better those were. Moving to the components topped those.
Yes, you're limited to more quality-sounding speakers!
With some thought and ingenuity, you can make things work that aren't supposed to fit, but Crutchfield's fitment guide is a great place to start.

My carts on Amazon and Crutchfield are getting pretty expensive. Lol
