The shudder was slight...

Dougers,
How on earth did you get them to replace the throttle body? I have been told time and time again that there is no fix out yet or there is a TSB (that does not work) or Ford tells the dealer not to fix and monitor the problem.

Honestly, I called Ford and pitched my case. I referenced all of my repair orders for the issue (quite a few) and told them I had absolutely NO problems with the dealer---which is true. I then explained that for 50k miles I had been more than patient and furthermore, the dealer is ready to pull his hair out waiting for Ford to find a solution. She instructed me to make an appointment with the dealer, and let her know the date so she could coordinate the dealer with engineering. From there, it is my understanding the tech and engineering came to a consensus on the solution.

But at least there will be a record of the problem in their system.

There will be another TSB coming out very soon that addresses this particular issue. And most dealerships won't perform a TSB unless your vehicle has a documented problem.
Appointment for this coming Monday. Once I explained the issue to the lady on the service counter she asked "Does your truck have the Ecoboost engine". I responded yes and it sounds like you have heard about this issue before. She responded "yes many times".

She then went on and explained that Ford Canada is aware and they are working on a fix but she didnt know when or what the fix was. Sound familiar.

The deflector actually deflects it AWAY from the intercooler so it doesn't drop the temp of the air in the I/C as low. Is this deflector in addition to what has been discussed here? Have they added a second one? Guessing its the one discussed in this thread and it blocks air from entering the IC.

So I know I'm a NEWB and I know I'm a Tundra guy, but I thought everyone following this thread might like to know that a source at Ford (a current employee) has told me that:

1. Ford has been installing a new version of the CAC in all new F150s since September 18th
2. Early next month (November), Ford will issue a TSB that tells dealers to replace the CAC with this new design if an EcoBoost owner reports shudder problems.

SO, my advice to all you EcoBoost owners is to book an appt at your local Ford dealership next month.

As soon as I find out the TSB#, I'll update this story:

Seems like more unofficial speculation, but encouraging nonetheless. It's the most information to surface about a potential fix than we've seen in a while. Guess we'll know for sure next month. I'd be curious to know if the new CAC will eliminate the need for the additional wind deflector, or if the two work together.

Not speculation my friend. I got it straight from the Blue Oval's mouth.

I expect some other website will run this story soon as well - that will be your confirmation.

I'm not sure where you get your facts, but I'd love you to share them with us. Every person I know has the 55-60 mph shudder and by my way of thinking, other owners either haven't had it start up yet or have no idea it's happening. Most of my friends have no idea when my truck is acting up. Only my gearhead buddies notice it and they naturally ask me what's going on. My cousin-in-law has a '12 EB and his does the shudder also, but he had no idea it was happening until I told him as we rode in his truck to the lake one day. Circumstancial evidence is pretty strong that "all" of these trucks have this problem, or will soon and most folks have no idea it's going on!

I've followed this thread and the one before it and I have a question. Is there anyone out there that has the big problem of "falling on it's face when passing power is needed" that have tried to block all air from their CAC? It's an easy experiment and may or may not give us some more info on the subject. I've never had that problem yet, but if I did, I'd give it a try just to see if it made any difference. Turbos have run for a lot of years w/o intercoolers, worth a try.
