2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes
Received a call from my district Ford rep this afternoon, Rachael. She confirmed the problem and the fact that multiple other F150 EcoBoost owners are experiencing the same problem. She confirmed that a TSB is coming out to address the problem in early summer. I did my very best to be nice to her, but it was difficult not to question how or why something that they know is going to be released is going to take that long.
Anyway, my case is opened I am on a waiting list. Part of me feels like I am slowly being pushed to the lemon law time limit, but I am being optimistic about the whole thing and gonna play their game.
As of right now, I have one attempted repair and the dealership service dept (with Ford backing the decision) is refusing to look at or make a 2nd attempt to solve my problem. Does a refusal to fix a problem count as an attempt? Should I get that refusal in writing? Good questions for a lawyer.

I would say yes, get something in writing that states they are refusing to work on it. It definitely wouldn't hurt in any case. Keep taking it back for the same problem, and keep getting it in writing if you're serious about trying for a lemon law return. If they ask why you want it in writing let them know. I would think it will only benefit everyone with these problems if Ford had a little extra pressure to fix it. Definitely good news about another TSB in the works though.
I don't want to be serious. As I have told the saleman and the general manager at my dealersip, I don't want a new truck. I like my truck and I really like the EcoBoost, other than this misfire sensation. All I want is for my truck to be fixed.
I am planning on holding off until July or August before I really start pushing the issue. At that time, if it can be fixed, Ford should have found a fix. If not, lemon law time, and I will buy another F150 EcoBoost.

So far, I think BobMac might be the only 5.0L with an engine misfire detected. Not 100% sure on that. Perhaps people are confusing the misfire with a slight transmission shutter? If more 5.0L's have had an engine misfire pick up on the ford diagnostics laptop, please post it here.
All, had the same issue, threw some particular codes, took it to the dealer, and the codes are in fact part of an alert, with the fix to reflast the computer firmware. Much better performance with no issues....you need to throw a code however before they will reflash your truck....maybe there is another way, not sure.....hope that helps!

All she would say is to bring it back to the dealer to "verify the concern". I mentioned that they did verify the concern before they applied the TSB and she told me the dealer said they couldn't duplicate at that time either. I mentioned that my paperwork said they verified it and applied the TSB during that service visit. She said there must be a mistake in the paperwork...???
I was nice and haven't mentioned that I'm starting the lemon process so I'm baffled. I called my attorney to ask if they had already sent the paperwork and it isn't going out till Weds. He thought they were just trying to deny the problem and say it wasn't verified so that it would be harder to lemon. But my paperwork says otherwise and even says the dealer called Ford and was told that it was a known issue...
My 5.0 has the misfire feeling between 1500 and 2000 rpms. More noticeable at highway speeds but have felt it at other speeds. Some days worse than others. However the dealer couldnt replicate it and no codes were flagged. Next time in I'm gonna have a tech ride along.
Today: Yeah, we'll fix your problems!
Tomorrow: What problems? We can't duplicate your problems. Who are you? What vehicle is this again? Your VIN does not seem to exist in Ford's system. I'm sorry, we can't help you. Move along, peasant! We have non-warranty work to perform.
And such is the way Ford works.
