I hope you are right as I have gone on several short trips and was getting close to 16. I drive a new Ford XL at work with the 3.7 V6 and is all I really needed but just thought to try this engine, hopefully they will get the bugs worked out.

Went and met with the dealership for the meeting they requested. They actually offered me a pretty good deal. They are gonna take my 5 month old truck in on trade for what I owe on it and credit the purchase of a new 2012 for my previous trade. Essentially, I will be out about $2200 which isn't too bad considering I would probably lose a similar amount on a lemon law settlement. Only problem is that the only truck on the lot which would come close to my truck is a loaded FX4 5.0L(even had the a/c leather seats). After all of the numbers were done, my payment was gonna go up $18 / month for 5 years. I didn't want a higher payment, but was ready to jump on it until I test drove the truck. Very nice truck, but after driving the EcoBoost, the 5.0L left alot to be wanted - mostly torque.

I realized the dealership was gonna take a hit on this offer, so I went back in, thanked the GM for the offer and then told him I want my EcoBoost fixed. He told me that they are currently working on a few others and IF the fixes work (he admitted he doesn't think they will) they will try it on my truck. If not, they will find a new similar truck with an EcoBoost that isn't shuddering and match my current payment / term.

Edit: The dealership requested this meeting about 20 minutes after I opened a case with Ford Customer Service about my unfixable low rpm / light load misfire sensation.

What is the reason they want to get you out of your 2011?

Default Opened a Customer Service Case too

You know, if I didn't like this truck so much, I think I'd just give up and work with the dealer to get a 5.0 or perhaps go back to GMC [I know that's probably a four letter word here but I've had good luck with 'em]. But I do like this truck. I mean the ride, comfort, power, and quietness are unsurpassed in any truck I've owned to date. And the "potential" for great gas mileage I saw for 3 months after I got it prove it's capability there too.

So, I opened up a case myself yesterday but am a little peeved that the response today was to take it back into the dealership for diagnosis which means they did NOT read the "please be as accurate and detailed as possible" in my problem explanation. I told them the dealership I took it to doesn't want me to even bring it back because there were no codes latched and they don't know what to do with it and two other dealerships I called including the one up in Iowa where I bought it just said, "be patient, it's not broken in yet".

So "it's not broken in yet" causes rough idle, sucky mpgs after getting great mpgs when I got it, shudder @ 55 on both an incline and also into a stout headwind I've found, and falling flat on its face when you need the throttle in high humidity? I told them in the details that the shudder "in heavy traffic anyway" and the falling flat on its face when you need the throttle are potentially serious safety problems.

So, anyway, I responded back "been there done that" so now we'll wait and see what's next?

Don't know about your lemon laws, but you won't be out that much through a lemon. I'm making out like a bandit on my lemon.

Good for you, stand your ground. The dealership is in this to make money, not friends, trust me, they weren't losing anything and you were going to be out over 2 grand.

Keep fighting the good fight.

One other thing I can not stress enough. If you havent done it already, OPEN A CASE WITH FORD CUSTOMER CARE! This is the best way to handle this and bring it to Fords attention. One word of advice. Treat your representative with respect. They can make this easy or very difficult for you. Mine has been awesome and was key in getting the engineer to come down here and look at my truck personally. Keep in mind they didnt build the truck, they are there to work with you and the dealership.

Also guys, now that I've got some miles on my 5.0L, I do notice an ever so slight shudder at lower RPM's. To me, it literally does feel just like the transmission would like to downshift, but doesn't need to. This is not the same feeling whatsoever I had with my eco. I did have that feeling in my eco as well, but the real shudder was much more pronounced and felt like you were shaking up a hill. So I think there is a bit of transmission shudder, along with the intercooler condensation causing another shudder, which is where the misfires come from..

Now, BobMac did also have engine misfires detected on his 5.0L, but I haven't heard anything about his status for a while.

After reading some of the superchips threads and seeing the oasis stating that engineering is looking into condensation in the IC (someone posted in the knocking bogging thread) looks like it has to be the issue for the ecoboost guys. Interesting about the people who didnt have the miss and now have it after putting the tune on. To me it looks like when the superchips was applied for those people it was maybe sucking more air creating more condensation so they began to feel the shudder?

Default I'm the one who posted the oasis messsage in the bogging thread

Someone mentioned this would be good info for this thread also.

From Oasis:

Special Sevice Message Number:22225

"Some 2011-2012 F150 equipped with a 3.5L GTDI engine may exhibit an intermittant stumble and/or misfire on hard acceleration after an extended drive at highway speeds. These vehicles may or may not exhibit a steady or flashing mil light with misfire dtcs and/or P0430 stored in the PCM. These symptoms may be more noticeable during high humid or damp conditions. This concern may be caused by excessive condensation collectiong in the charge air cooler. Replacing secondary ignition components will not resolve this concern, refer to TSB 12-2-10. Engineering is investigating, continue to monitor oasis for further updates."

As I am starting a lemon law claim on my truck, I would like to hear from anyone else that is or has done this with their F150. What was the resolution and how long did it take? Might be best to take it to PM though.

Thanks,
Josh
