I replacement my OEM battery last week, and was wondering is I had missed any OTA updates as it was slowly failing. Not bad battery life for a truck built in January 2021.1FTEW1EP9MKD18502
OTA history shows no activity in the past 180 days which is how long the data is kept on the cloud, so you have not been sent any updates in a while. Connectivity seems to be working fine.
@SkyeCam Your OTA history shows 14 failed OTA attempts for your IPC. This for sure is not normal. Your truck is getting updates, but the IPC is one of 4 modules in the vehicle that have top be updated in a certain order before other updates can be sent and installed. The dealer needs to look into why the IPC OTA has failed so many times and update the IPC to open the bottleneck being created by that IPC update not going through.
Last May I took my 21 F150 into the dealership to address the fact that I hadn’t gotten any updates for years. They had it for three weeks. The bill showed $4500. They said I would need to pay $500 of it because FORD would only pay for 4000 of it. They claimed they had repaired the over the air. They showed me a different looking sheet that claimed that 34 things had been updated. I drove away thinking that OTA was working. I got a notice couple months ago about a recall that was going to be handled through OTA. I watched for an update never saw one so, after you confirmed that OTA didn’t appear to be working, I took advantage of the of the recall and it’s offer to provide me a loaner while they did the recall. So my car has been at the shop for three weeks now they’re still waiting for parts on one of the recalls and in the meantime, they’re telling me that my over the air is fixed and I am fully updated. After the experiences I’ve had, I don’t actually know if I can believe them or not. So I’m hoping I could ask you rugedraw to run my Vin once again and let me know what you see. I showed them the report you sent me a few weeks ago and specifically pointed out the IPC recommendation but as most service people do, they don’t want to hear someone else’s suggestions. I asked him specifically if they had done anything with the IPC and all he said “well it’s working now. I don’t know what they did”. I would like to know where I stand before I pick this car up and a current report would do that as well as give me ammo if it shows some fails.
thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, I can no longer see vehicle history to see what they did or didn't do. They need to update the IPC since it has failed so many times via OTA. As long as they do that, it should get you over the hump to when they send the next OTA in the sequence, it goes through. Same thing happened to my 2021 many years ago. IPC update failed OTA many times. Once I did it with FDRS myself, the OTA's started working after.

I told the service advisor when I dropped it off that you heavily suspected the IPC. I even showed him your message without revealing your identity.
It felt like he wasn’t even giving it consideration. I asked him point blank today about the IPC and all he would say was that it “everything was updated” which answers neither of my real concerns - did they update the IPC specifically and can they VERIFY that OTA is working. I won’t accept the truck until I get answers to those questions.
Im very unhappy with Grapevine Ford in Grapevine TX and FMCC in general. Since the day I bought the truck, it has spent over six weeks in the shop dealing with inoperable OTA.
Thanks for all of your help.

So I was doing some digging to see if they updated the IPC or not and I came across something interesting. Note in the screenshot below that the files the IPC update wants to install on your truck and the files on your truck are both the same. This is why the update keeps failing. The OTA can't install what is already installed. What is confusing to me is why the OTA server is not recognizing this. I have a contact at Ford that can ping your truck to hopefully sync the data. I don't know if the dealer updated anything, but it is very possible that FDRS is not showing a pending IPC update for your truck based on what I am seeing now. No promises, but I will see what I can do.
Thank you so much!
I really appreciate the effort you’re putting into helping me.
What a bizarre circumstance.
I hope your contact can help.
He sent the ping to your truck. Next it is started, the data will refresh. However, there is no guarantee that will solve the issue with the failed OTA. It is still better for the dealer to do it while they have it.
Hello again @rugedraw : My last OTA on '24 was Dec 2024. Since then had the battery replaced and havent received anything OTA since. TYhinking something might be jammed up. Can you take a look when you get a chance? Thanks so much for all you do! 1FTFW1RG9RFB08139

OTA history shows your last OTA was a few months ago in December of 2025. Connectivity is working fine; I don't see anything to be concerned about in your case. There are no OTA's in your queue at this time.
