Interesting phone call with my local dealer. They are telling me that when they had my truck in "they put the most current version available for my VIN". Does that mean my truck is not eligible for updates or are they leading me on?
They did not. They updated the APIM once and that is it. The problem is that certain updates have to be installed in certain order. So once they got your APIM out of the old software version, FDRS was not showing any more APIM updates because other modules would have to be updated before the server will release the next APIM update. So no....I don't think they are lying to you. Mechanics and Service Advisors are not software engineers. They don't know how these things work. Sync 21146 is software from the 146th day of 2021 (first two numbers is the year and last three is the day of the year). The latest Sync for our trucks is 23291 as per the attached GSB from Ford.

@rugedraw this is so interesting. The dealer sounds like they want to help get this right. How does one go about getting the other modules updated in order to unlock the next update?
I apologize for taking so much of your time. I appreciate the help.

I just want to find a simple way to explain this to them so the education value doesn’t get lost in translation.
thanks.

There are 4 key modules within the network that are tied to each other in terms of Sync updates. These are the APIM, GWM, TCU and IPC. I don't have access to FDRS now as I am at work, so I do not know which of these is showing for you at the moment. Let's assume it's a GWM update. Once that GWM gets applied, another one of these will release....let's assume the next one is the TCU. Once the TCU is done, another APIM will be there. And so on and so on until the truck is on Sync 23291 or no more updates are showing for these for modules as not all vehicles have all the updates released for them to be at the latest Sync software.
This just covers the Sync updates. There are dozens of other modules that also have pending updates as per the list below. The IPMA alone will take three hours to do, but the other ones are usually pretty quick. If they want to do them all for you, then lucky you. Most people do not get help from dealers when it comes to updates though.
@isthatahemi Man, we are stumped. All the software and config for the driver assist features seem fine and the map files for BC are fine. We have no idea why your driver assist features went ghost. When you get the issue resolved, lmk. I'd like to run your VIN through PTS after the dealer does whatever they do to see what they did to fix it.
The front radar sensor had been out of commission since the last update, that it took many days and nearly 600 miles to stop trying to drive me into the rear of other vehicles is a miss-step on top of an error.
I physically inspected the wiring and sensor, did an KAM reset, CEL reset, plugged in the shutters (just in case) and unless the sensor randomly went defective on the 20th, the software did it.
I also wonder how the same software update would apply to the broad list of vehicles you mentioned, when this one is a ‘24 with the latest bluecruise that lane-changes and whatnot, seems like it shouldn’t have happened.

@rugedraw this makes more sense now! The dealer is saying they need to do research to see how to access new updates. Would you mind if I print out these screenshots to accelerate their learning an hopefully get me up to date faster. I would of course not share the origin of this document.
if you prefer I do not share, I will keep this to myself.

Sucks cuz I’m away for the next couple weeks.
Checked your truck again and there are some new codes there that may be useful to point out the issue. The check engine symbol is still by the active grille shutters, but now it's showing faults for a forward sensing sensor and a front sensor alignment. I really don't think it is software related. I follow these OTA's across several forums with different vehicles and you're the only person with issues after this update.

You can show them whatever you want. I don't care. They have access to all this info themselves. If they're willing to listen to what you have to say, then by all means show them.

Sweet! I will keep the page up to date if I get anywhere with them.
