I've been using a good quality VCM2 clone adapter that I've had for years that cost me about $200 but that particular clone seems to be no longer available. I have a legitimate VCM3 adapter on order but it's been backordered for a while. Lots of guys are buying a Mongoose Plus adapter on Amazon for $500 and buying the FDRS 2-day license and doing their own updates and here's a good tutorial on that: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thre...ing-fdrs.8249/
Excellent info, @Livnitup

Livnitup it appears I’m hung up on the 1.7.1 update and will be heading to dealer for the TSB to correct.
Would appreciate if you could post my outstanding updates to share with service manager as you suggested.
Hoping this might help avoid a lot of frustrations. I don’t have much confidence in my small town dealer.

Thanks for all your help and advice you share!

Thanks for all of the information on updating my own truck. It looks like it's doable. What makes me really mad about this whole issue is that my dealer had my truck for four weeks waiting on a driveshaft. I made sure to let them know that I wanted BlueCruise working if they could do it while it was there. When I came to pick it up, four weeks later, sorry, we don't know anything about it.
Now I see that any Ford technician could have performed these updates in 5-8 hours and it would be working right now. This makes me madder and madder the more I think about it. Two female service writers didn't have a clue about what it takes to get BlueCruise working. There are no men service writers at this Ford Truck dealer. What the hell is Ford doing about training their people? A couple of guys on the internet figured it out without too much difficulty.

I'm not so sure I want to force module updates on my $70K truck that is still under a long warranty. But I am tempted.

Once again, thank you!

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but the required module updates to get you to "BlueCruise active" weren't available in FDRS 4+ weeks ago. Further, even though they are (supposedly) there now, they are not literally labeled as "Here is the BlueCruise update!" in FDRS.

Point being, I wouldn't be getting mad at the dealership for something they either just got in FDRS and/or something that they just learned about.

^ this. It's my understanding that it was Ford corporate who just recently sent out the information to the dealerships on this and @roadPilot is correct that nothing in the software updates section indicates Bluecruise and the files for this only showed up a few weeks ago for the job1 trucks that had the Bluecruise prep package.

My 2.3.0 update failed on January 7th and finally installed yesterday. Give it time. It will come eventually.

Long story but here we go. This has been my experience with the OTA updates lately. On Feb 25th I received an email from the "early access program" saying I was picked to be one of the first to get the BlueCruise OTA update. I gave it a couple of weeks and nothing happened so I called them, I found out that on Feb 11th, two weeks before I got the early access program email, that update 2.4.1 failed to install, and before they could proceed 2.4.1 needed to go through and to give it another week and they should be able to push it through. Well they didn't push it through so I called the dealer I bought my truck from to see if they could do it, they couldn't get me in for three weeks, so I called another dealer and they said bring it in the next day, I took my truck in this past friday the 25th, The dealer was able to install the 2.4.1 update, Saturday I got the OTA update 2.4.3, Sunday I got 2.4.4 Monday I got 2.4.5, Today, Tuesday it downloaded 2.5.1, but it won't install. It'll start with, Will install in 2 min, it counts down, then it'll say preparing update for about 3 min then it goes blank. On my app it'll say will try again. Looks like another trip to the dealer...

UPDATE, I thought, why don't I disconnect the battery and maybe it'll reset the modules and maybe that'll fix it. IT WORKED! 2.5.1 installed!!!
UPDATE #2 OTA Update 2.5.2 came in today! BlueCruise is now working!

I went into my dealer about a month ago and discussed the "no update" problem. He gave me a blank look and stated maybe Ford doesn't have any updates. He stated they really did not know anything about the problem. I told him I would get more information and return when I have more info.
Today I went in and they now know all about the problem and will "fix" my truck on Tuesday April 5th. GREAT! I sure hope they don't screw up the hole thing and mess up my truck.
.
In a list of "things" that are added and others that are updated, one thing I noticed that was mentioned about Apple CarPlay. But no mention about Android Auto. So no additions or upgrades for Android users?
