I'd like the maps to be updated before the 3 year trial ends. I know apple car play/android auto are way better than Ford Navigation, but it's just the point my system is not updating like it's supposed to and want it corrected.
Ford’s software updates are crap. I had my APIM replaced 4 month’s ago, April 26th, and received 1 update, 2.1.1 and non since. There was some attempt of an update according to rugedraw in May but nothing went through. The fact that you get them when they feel like sending them is pathetic and they will probably stop sending them all together for 2021 trucks soon.

In October, they updated the TCU. Tried to update the APIM and IPC once and both failed and they didn't try again. Because you have no recent OTA history, I can't tell which update you are by, but I can tell you that sync 21233 is not the most recent. It does not matter whether you can prove to the dealer that you are up to date or not. Ford does not pay them to update modules, so they will always give you the run-around. Either wait for the OTA's you are missing to come in, or update it yourself which is what I would recommend.

2023 trucks were built with all the older problematic software already. It had OTA 4.2.1.2 fail in May, but that is nothing to be concerned about. It will get resent and go through sooner or later. As far as software goes, there is no reason for you to not buy this truck.

Thanks very much. I will try to nag them update before buying.

On a side note, has anyone noticed the VIN Decoder on these forums is like totally completely wrong? I guess when you type a VIN number, this forum automatically hyperlinks it. So you click on the hyperlink and it says "You did not complete the CAPTCHA verification properly. Please try again.". So then you hit the decode button and it bring ups wrong data.

Default Lat update 4.2.4

hi- 2021 F150 Platinum PB. Last update was 4.2.4, May 18, 2023. I checked the Power-up excel, and it says I am behind on OTA updates.
Could you please check and see if you can find out what's going on with my truck? 1FTFW1ED2MFB97959

Your truck is fine. The few updates you are missing are updates to prep the truck for future updates, so you aren't missing out on anything. Your truck is on the latest Sync version. There is nothing to worry about in your case. The updates you are missing will get sent to you sooner or later.

Thanks for the information Rugedraw. I'd love to try and update the software myself. I've seen a few people make posts about doing this but not aware of a good tutorial available.

Does anyone know of a tutorial online somewhere could help with manually updating the software?

Don't let it scare you. It is very easy and FDRS walks you through everything step by step.

If you don't want to spend the $550 on the Mongoose VCI needed to perform module updates, let me know and I will add you to the list to borrow one of mine. Details are here:

Does the software update include new maps, or are those 2 separate updates?
