I don’t suppose anyone on here would rent me one temporarily? 🥲
Yes, I have two mongooses that I am lending out. Get on the list:

If you are not a member on that forum, lmk and I will add you to the list on the second post and reach out to you here when it is your turn.

Whoa, nice! I had a feeling something must exist. I have another rare vehicle and our community trades odd single-use tools around in much the same way. I'm not a member over there, how long is the wait? Add me to the list though, I appreciate it!

Hello, I was wondering if someone could check my vin again to see if its stuck downloading the files again for 3.5.3? I took a drive yesterday for about an hour to try to charge the battery. I have been putting a battery charger on it trying to keep it topped up as well. Its just been really cold while they seem to be sending these updates... 1FTFX1E83MKF01341 Thanks again.

The status of "Update To Start File Download" repeated itself 1 to 6 times per day, including 3 times today. It has 3 more files to download before it has all the files to start the update.

Pretty sure you're stuck until the rest of the files decide to download, there isn't anything you can do on your side and this is not related to any battery issues.

Maybe a silly question for all you experienced folks here, but all of these restrictions (parked, locked, brake on, lights off, doors closed, battery charged, etc) - these are prerequisites for the install of the updates, not the download? So like if it's just sitting in my driveway on WiFi, it should download things successfully kinda whenever, but the installation is what has all these conditions?

Having a charged battery is important for the installation part, but not the download part. It should download everything yes, but that is not always the case. At all. Ford's OTA process is very flawed. There is no systematic way in which they are sent out to vehicles, and it is very common for an update to fail the download process and never even gets as far as the install part of the process. There is no way to force an OTA to be sent to you. I have gotten OTA's sent and installed and never set my parking brake of take my headlights off of auto. The only thing predictable about Ford's OTA's is that they are completely unpredictable.

The four updates that were just rolled out to me only required the vehicle be shut down and locked. I never touched my parking brake or headlight switch in my garage.

I’m starting to wonder if Ford isn’t just messing with us. When people call Ford, they tell us these stupid things to do(headlights off auto, brake set, left rear seat in the up position) just to see if we try them. They probably have file on the stupid **** they tell us and check these forums to see if we share them. Once they do that they push the update out making it seem like it worked. 😛
