My tailgate drops with my keypad on my 21. All you have to do is enter your code and they double press the last digit.

For example, if your code is 1-2-3-4-5, then press 5 once more and your tailgate should open.

 

Rugedraw, my '21 Job 1 truck is at the dealer going on 2 weeks. They are having issues and talking with Ford.

They're working on it. It seems like they replaced the APIM yesterday and tried to PMI it, but the process failed. They tried updating and running repair procedures several times since you dropped it off. I can say that while they don't seem to be having much success, at least they are diligently working on the truck and trying to get it right.

 

Still no camera available when pushing the button on the dash, only while in reverse. Any other suggestions, or should I take it to a dealership to have them look at it?

The dealer will not be able to install the updates your truck skipped over. It will be a total and complete waste of time. If you want the updates you are missing, you will most likely need a Mongoose. I will find out and get back to you.

 

Confirmed: You will need a Mongoose to get your truck the missing updates. You can either buy one, or get on the list to borrow one of mine. It'll take 6-8 weeks before I can get to you, but you won't have to spend almost $600 on the tool.

Honest question for those that know more about the OTA updates than me. I see lots of talk about trucks skipping over updates and thus missing features. How is this not a warranty issue? From reading, I understand that once you miss an update, your basically **** out of luck, but how can Ford not address that issue as I assume it's only a matter of time before owners start screaming about features their trucks do not have, but others do.

Curious what everyone else thinks....

 

I’m not sure it could be positioned as a warranty issue as these are new features not included in the initial vehicle sale. Our trucks were said to have OTA capabilities, which technically they do have. But all of the new things enabled by OTA are not “required” to fulfill the vehicle’s sold capabilities. I think they therefore may not fall under warranty. Same is true for many other platforms like phones and computers.

the only thing in the OTA process that might change this are those who bought the Blue Cruise stuff. That would need to be delivered to fulfill the sales contract and “warranty”.
