Software Updates
I will completely agree that Ford has big issues as it tries to move into the software-enabled world, but I am hoping that at some point they will get it figured out. Their dealer network needs to up their game with people who are more oriented to computers and software to augment the guys who are great at the mechanical side where things seem to usually be a big more obvious for issue resolution. But for the dealerships to be successful, Ford needs to deliver the software tools needed for the techs to be effective. To have the techs plug something in, have it not work and then get shoved into the Ford Level 2 tech line is not, as we are all seeing, a sustainable process. Nothing against the mechanically-oriented techs, but you can't take one of these guys, give them a 2 hour video training course and expect them to be successful. That would be like expecting me to work on and engine when I am more computer savvy. just my humble opinion.
Till things get better, I'll just be happy with the truck as it now has the features listed on my window sticker fully enabled. I love my truck. Add to that I am not being charged additional for these OTA updates, BC I can assess once my 1 year free expires as to whether I want to renew. Things could be worse. I know others are right where I was a year ago and I sincerely hope Ford gets things worked out for every last one.

Not to say that issues don't happen, but logs stored in PTS/OASIS/FDRS suggest otherwise. The tools are already out there, just that technicians either aren't trained in using them properly, can't read the prompts in FDRS or details in service buildings, or just DGAF. I would estimate that hundreds of people have been able to accomplish most module updates on their own with zero training and only minor issues at most. Compare that to "trained" dealer technicians that seem to have problems constantly. Then you look into what they did and it was make one attempt and stop, but that one attempt gave them a prompt that the battery was very low, make sure you are charging it, which is also in every TSB, and they say ok, ignore the warning and get a failure. There are many examples of that in this thread, and elsewhere, of the tech getting a prompt warning of a potential problem and how to fix it, then just continuing on and having nothing but problems before giving up. I think the stuck update TSB is probably the exception, and gave everyone issues, but that typically isn't required for any of this.
Definitely a cluster, but I think Ford is not well versed on these types of services that shift from the mechanical to software. Hopefully they get it figured out soon for smoother rollouts in the future.
MY BlueCruise (2021 Job 1 truck) was remedied @ the dealer (APIM) and has been working flawlessly for close to 1 year since then. I've also received a plethora of OTA updates and I believe I'm as current as I can get via OTA (3.5.2). So I have no idea what this babbling is all about.
I received a notification for this update in my FordPass app for my 2022 Powerboost in the last 24 hours. I have the Android Auto side update to make things full screen, so I can't wait to test it out later today.
You can certainly go into the Sync settings and see your Sync version number, but that doesn't mean you're not in the middle of 5 different modules being updated to complete a particular Power Up version update.
Because each Power Up version update can contain MULTIPLE module updates (that can occur across a space of time), there's not really a definitive way of saying, "Go here and read this Power Up version number".
That said, there is a history of features that you get with each COMPLETED Power Up update on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_P...ersion_History Be sure to pay attention to the left column, as not all Power Up version updates apply to EVERY vehicle.
If you peruse the "Changes" column, you can likely determine which features your vehicle has and determine which Power Up version that has completely applied. For example, the last successful update I got (Update button in truck or in the FordPass app - Software Updats) tells me that update is a prerequisite for a future update that will, among other things, give me Alexa in the truck. Something very similar to "Preparing your vehicle for Alexa Built-in". If I check the Power Up version history, I see 'Preparing your vehicle for Alexa Built-in[' listed as a "change" from Power Up version 3.5.2. So I'm waiting for the next applicable Power Up version for my F150, 3.5.3.
Hope this (kinda) helps.
