Glad it worked for you, finally. Ford should be very embarrassed, but I doubt they are.

Default 2.8.1 round two successful with a kick

Finally got 2.8.1 successfully download on the second go around after multiple failures the first time. The trick for me was having my battery charger hooked up to the truck, positive to positive and negative to body ground. Whatever works I guess.

I've tried searching through the forums for these questions but can't seem to put my finger on finding the right questions/answers.

1) I believe I'm all up-to-date with 2.8.3, but I'm seeing others post a 3.5.2 Power-Up version. Are the latest versions of the software perhaps tied to different vehicle types?

2) For those of you whose updates have failed, do you know they have failed? After a successful update, I typically see the icon with the check mark on the center screen. Does that show differently if one failed?

I went through May, June, and July with updates every few weeks, but now haven't received anything since July 8. Maybe nothing new has been issued since then, but that's why I asked question (2) above.

Thanks to all those who participate in helping untangle these issues! It is much appreciated!

21s and 22s are not in sync with their version numbers. 2.8.3 is the latest for 21 so far.

3.5.2 is the first OTA that 22s have gotten, and it's just future-prep.

Update 3.5.2 successfully updated a day or two ago. I did not have the truck set up to automatically down load. The truck and I were away from home for almost 3 weeks so I keep denying permission to download. I didn't want something to go wrong and I be away from home with my trailer and have the truck turn into a brick. I do not trust any downloads from Ford.

Got home last Friday, so I decided to to allow the down load yesterday. The 3.5.2 OTA couldn't be found. Then I got a message on Ford Pass telling me the download of 3.5.2 was successful, and I was now ready to get all kinds of "wonderful" OTA's in the future.

Default Disable FordPass on your phone stabilizes the battery voltage

For those of you having issues with battery voltage on updates, you might try disabling the FordPass app on your phone. With the app running my voltage was jumping from 11.5 o 12.4 With the app disabled, I get a rock steady 12.4. Not sure if it will make a difference but worth a try if you're out of options. Maybe that's why the charger makes a difference...keeps the voltage steady.

You have a 2021, so you will not see 3.5.2. What you will get are two separate updates that don't have a 3.x.x. revision, but instead a bunch of numbers and letters. These two updates are the equivalent of 3.5.2 but for 2021 models since they have different hardware. When it update fails, you get a message in the Fordpass app that lets you know it failed. If you post or send me your VIN, I can check if you've gotten these updates sent to your truck or not. As was mentioned; these updates are to prep your truck for future updates, so you will not see anything different after the get installed.

Turning off auto-updates will only prevent the truck from installing OTA's the require the truck to be inhibited.....like 2.8.1. Updates that don't require the truck to be inhibited like that one will download and install automatically.

How did you disable the app? Did you uninstall it from your phone?

Thanks!

I'm using an Android so I went into the settings menu and under Apps, picked the FordPass app and selected the force stop on the bottom right. Assume something similar to that is on an iPhone
