I got a notification this morning I received 2.1.0.
Minor updates here and there. Just small stuff to keep everything running smoothly. Ongoing updates like this help ensure that you'll always be driving the best possible version of your F-150. Enjoy.
I have a problem with this. For 1, the update prior to this was 2.1.1. Second, that description reads like an iOS game app update. At least give me a bullet point list of what was fixed. I drive this giant computer on wheels and would like to know what was updated so I have an idea of what to look out for. With the problems I've been experiencing, I have a hard time driving my truck comfortably. My anxiety is on high alert wondering what the gremlins are plotting next. I've called my local Ford dealership and explained the issues I've been having. "Someone will email or call you back" is what I get. Well, it's been over a week, what is the turn around time for a smoke signal?
would you be able to check my update status? My system update options are greyed out. My dealer is waiting on guidance from Ford on the problem. I’m wondering if it’s even started an update. 1FTFW1ED5MFB85952

I agree with all your frustrations, but I might be able to offer some clarity on the update IDs...
The 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 you mentioned are references to the actual update packages being pushed. They are not cumulative, nor are they sequential, so we should have no expectation of them being delivered in any logical order. 2.1.X may contain an update that is only relevant to raptors, while 2.1.Y may exclude trucks without pro power, etc. Considering this, the fact that they chose to use the decimal-style identification (that is identical to a typical sequential "versioning" system) is just yet another head-scratcher.
So ultimately, your current Sync version can be found on the big screen under Settings > General > About Sync. You'll notice the version and build have no correspondence to the update ID's. Within whatever version your truck is running, you've received "Update 2.1.0" AND "Update 2.1.1"... you just received them in out of (numerical) order.
Double-tap the screen off tactile button, screen goes to calm then full off. Tap screen once, no brighten. Continue to blindly mash screen, sounds like active selection. To turn screen back on I need to mash my cameras button.
Repeat with screen touch display settings, only just turn off. Same results. Will not visually wake but will tone. Same recovery method.
This is new for me. Went to Ford website to pull some information up. Under software updates I get this message. I have no idea what power-up or OTA I am on. Is it even worth calling the 1-800 number. When I go to the vehicle and click check for updates it says I am up-to-date.
Mine is still saying up to date and also is in that screen on the website. Im not to worried it will eventually get it self figured out. In the last couple days its been downloading stuff on my wifi once again so will see.
If you want to send me your VIN, I can check your OTA history.
Good afternoon Vulnox!
Thanks so much for all your insight on this thread. It's obvious you've opened a can of worms here, and the last thing I intend to do is add another "mine too" request. With that in mind, I wonder if you can offer some insight on why my truck seems to be so far behind others' (even those at identical or similar trim levels). I have an XLT Sport 302A High, built 12/20 and purchased 2/21. I enabled automatic updates the day I brought it home, but to my knowledge have only received one update; I do recall seeing a notification in the FordPass app at the time (mid-July I believe), but must have deleted it because I have not been able to find it again since. My presumption is that it was the 1.4 power-up since I do have the SecuriAlert feature.
I do share others' frustration with the lack of transparency regarding the scheduling, eligibility, and status of both Sync and Power-Up updates. I'd been reluctantly staying in the "be patient and wait" camp, but a few recent developments have definitely increased my frustration:
I've been seeing feedback from owners of more recent builds (with newer Sync versions) that suggests fixes to issues that have been aggravating me from day one. Specifically, the MyView reset, dash cluster navigation, and sync settings retention. As you can imagine, if there are update(s) that provide the fix I've been desperately seeking for 8 months, I'm obviously VERY eager to get them!
I have two friends who recently took delivery of their 2021s. Admittedly, both are higher trim levels (one a Lariat, the other Platinum), but it's been very frustrating to see functional, reliable features working in their trucks that I do not have in mine. Obviously, comparing my XLT Sport to my buddy's Platinum is like comparing apples to cinder blocks lol - but I believe (correct me if I'm mistaken) that many of the features should not be exclusive to the high-end trims... some examples include:
No reset of MyView, Cluster gauges, Sync4 preferences, etc.
Additional CarPlay information in Sync side screen card (Album art, etc).
WORKING nav display in the dash cluster with Sync navigation (mine consistently lags 2 or 3 maneuvers behind the main display).
Cluster display of CarPlay navigation apps.
Display of video in the Bed Camera info card (mine has always been a blank blue screen).
Activation of camera display at speeds above 5mph.
At the risk of adding to the complaint sounding board, I can't help feeling a bit neglected with the fact that I'm 8 months and 15k miles in with this truck and having no better understanding of if/when updates will come my way than I had leaving the dealership. So, my questions to you are:
Can you recommend any method of establishing my OTA history / eligibility (outside of taking advantage of your valuable time)?
Do you know of any publicly-accessible resource with information regarding release notes of specific updates?
Is there anything I can/should be doing to ensure that I'm not doing (or not doing) something on my end that is preventing or delaying updates?
Lastly, is it possible to circumvent the OTA delivery mechanism (applying updates manually, either DIY or via a dealership)?
My "local" dealership has all but laughed at me when asking these questions. My "preferred" dealer (which is over an hour away) has been much more responsive, but equally un-helpful. The "check your FordPass app for notifications of available updates" response has evolved from scripted to just plain infuriating.
Thanks in advance for any guidance you may be able to offer, and apologies for the rant!
