They may be intentionally locking out auto updates to avoid any truck from updating or checking for updated until they complete the rollout plan for the new software. But I would think they would let dealers and customers know about this first.

Does anyone else with this problem show a version number on their sync about screen?
Yeah, mine also does not show a version number or revision on the about sync screen. And this seems to be from people whose trucks are hung up on downloading 1.7.1. I’m really wondering if this is intended behavior of the trucks while downloading an update, rather than a hardware fault. Somebody reported it corrected itself once their truck updated with 1.7.1

Spent over an hour and a half with 3 reps from Ford on the phone over a period of 3 weeks.. yesterday being the last.
Only info at half par was they let me talk to the ota dept. They seen the activity which I show from 10/21 but it never completed. There are several modules waiting for the updates. They cannot push an update individually. They said one was coming yesterday or over night. My first and only notification came over Fordpass last night that said 'we are sorry but your update for 1.7.1 failed and not to worry, it will try again during your next scheduled update.' Yea, when is that I ponder...
Oh, and they have no idea why the controls are blanked out. My guess it wont let you turn them on or off in the middle of an update.
Nuts... They mentioned that it if it keeps happening, to go to the dealer and let them flash the firmware with the latest update. So much for unattended updates. Was a pain but I'd rather use a flashdrive like past vehicles I had. At least I knew it worked.

Hopefully these failures are what they are trying to resolve regarding the bluecruise updating. Is everyone connected to WiFi from the truck, or is this also from the onboard cellular connection they are updating from?

When parked in my garage, the truck is connected to our house WiFi, I seem to getting updates on a regular basis.
When updating, most systems will not be available.

What do you mean "Most Systems" what systems will not be available? I haven't heard of system functions becoming disabled during an update for this yet.

Do not believe it has anything to do with BC.. reps did not mention it at all. There are many modules in the truck. They said I have 9 waiting for updates....
I have Xfinity for our home. The truck reaches our wifi no problem. There are 2 signals that connect from the truck.
Ford Sync Update and the Modem. I have a separate profile for each in the gateway so I can tell which and when it connects to the wifi.... The modem connected twice within a few days for 5 seconds each. The Sync has not connected to my wifi since 10/21/21 which is when it allegedly was downloading 1.7.1.... Never since.

These are sold as trucks but in reality to bring along all the features we paid for there is a ton of tech working in the background. With so much going on there will be issues time to time. I'm ok with that but what gets to me is the lack of communication from Ford on what the issues are they are working through, plans for mitigation, timelines for fixes etc. I've been fortunate so far that the issues I've had are more inconveniences but clearly others are having bigger problems. I can't think they aren't working on this so why not step up and tell us as customers. Does not seem too much to ask.

Ford Tech Support and my dealership determined I need a new APIM module because that's what failed during 1.7.1 update at the dealership, which was ordered today and should arrive in 7 - 10 days.
