OTA 2.8.2 ForScan DTC Reset Advisory. U10A01:93 SSM 50829
OTA 2.8.2 for the GWM can cause U10A01:93 DTC to be triggered by the TCU. It's a miscellaneous network error that doesn't affect anything (yet). It appears shortly after the update is successful and may not be immediately apparent. Reference SSM 50829.
This is not a problem now, but may become one for many owners in the near future. The SSM suggests a patch may deploy as early as this month.
The problem is, Ford's OTA updates are designed not to install if a DTC is present. So this DTC needs to be cleared with ForScan or FRDS otherwise whatever patch they release will fail and successive OTA updates will pile up in queue.
This fault can easily be cleared with ForScan or other OBD diagnostic software. I also suggest a TCU and GWM reboot after the DTC is cleared.

Yes, but is not intuitive. The bad news is that OTA updates are forced sort of like Windows 10. The good news is, the requests can be blocked or deactivated.
If your vehicle WiFi is disconnected, OTA updates will download via the LTE modem regardless of your Sync 4 settings. Also, the automatic updates feature likes to turn itself back on if you have a forgetful Sync 4 system, so a good way to manage updates over wifi would be to block the MAC address of Sync 4 from your home router. The OTA update feature may also be deactivated directly in the APIM with ForScan but I don't know of anyone who has done it yet.
As for blocking OTA updates over the cellular connection (TCU module), it could probably be deactivated in the TCU with ForScan without sacrificing all the other Ford Pass features such as remote start and remote locks. But if you would rather go the old fashioned way, you'll have to disconnect it internally which is easy. The TCU is located behind the rear passenger seat just below the rear window. It will have a white FCC sticker on it for identification. Since the TCU sends OTA files to the GWM over in-vehicle ethernet, you could probably get away with disconnecting just the ethernet cable to block OTAs. Leaving the other harnesses connected would retain your remote start functions in the Ford Pass App. I don't believe OTA updates can pass from the TCU to GWM over CAN.
This is hypothetical. I don't know of anyone who has gone out of their way to permanent block OTAs to date, but it should be possible.
The other option is to wait for an OTA update and it will probably break itself LOL.

Yes, but it is rare. For example a recent OTA update for the IPMA changes the as built addresses which makes a ForScan backup file for it useless. It also rewrites the default as built. Changes you make with ForScan get uploaded to oasis and will overwrite the original factory as built file. Fun times. Since recovery options are limited, I advise creating screenshots of your original as built data when the truck is new before making any changes.

They download from Ford's servers. No more OTA's in your queue, but that's not surprising considering you just got one.
no what I meant whats, that's it is not connected to any wifi connection, yet it downloading updates. I know it has 4g is ford using the built-in modem to send updates.
I got my letter from Ford about Customer Service Program 22B08. It took two months to get a service appointment but I finally got it dropped off over a month ago and it's been there ever since and still isn't repaired. They ordered an APIM and after it arrived they discovered they needed a different Ethernet cable so they ordered that. Then the technician went home sick and that just left everything up in the air. This job is supposed to take half a day according to the letter from Ford. I called the number on the letter and it's just a phone tree, no human involved. I'm getting very frustrated about this.
I don't know who to call about it. Is there a number I can use to speak with a technical person and maybe Ford can get involved?
Is it possible for someone out there to read my trucks history and tell me what they seem to be doing wrong? That would be so helpful, I'd at least have something to tell the service department.
Don't let them give up! I had a very similar situation with my dealer and 22B08. It got to the point where the next step was for the tech to call the Ford hotline and talk to an engineer and he flat out just didn't want to do that. I even left my truck and extra week and a half at the dealership to give them the opportunity to do the right thing and call the engineer before I would be forced to submit an honest but negative survey to Ford about what happened. Despite me giving them the extra time to do that, they didn't call Ford. So about a week after I submitted the survey I got a call from the dealer, and lo and behold, they confessed they messed up and are now working on my truck as we speak. I am cautiously optimistic as this is the first time since I bought the truck in March of 2021 that I have evidence of updates being applied. The dealer has committed to getting me fully up to date and fixing the OTA so I will be able to receive future updates. I will keep everyone updated on how it goes.

what software were you on when you went in and what were you on when you came out?
I'm sorry but I'm not sure what version I was on, but my SYNC 4 version now is 22087_PRODUCT Revision 415 and I have some other numbers which make very little sense to me.....

I think this is 2.8.2 if memory serves me correctly. 2.8.3 is Sync 22095 rev 424.
