Sync 3 Memory Issue
Ford needs to step up.
This is absolute BULL*****.
mine is good because of the BARRYFIX @barrytone im trademarking that name cause your a legend.
But in reality, Ford needs to fix this crap. the last time i talked to a support person from ford, she said they have had multiple calls per day about this issue
but it needs to be taken into the dealer. the Dealer always says new APIM which is money out of your pocket if you past warranty.
Ford need to fix this and cut @barrytone and myself a cheque(because i own the trademark BARRYFIX) for this easy fix.

Others much smarter than me figured out the actual process and needed files a few years ago, I just figured I'd share the most recent bits with those who aren't familiar with the process, as I had compiled a new install a few days prior to seeing this thread. In a nutshell, older versions of Sync allow a reformat utility to run, which basically wipes the APIM and reinstalls Sync from scratch. Where it benefits here, is that reformat wipes out the rwdata folder that is filling up. When you do a normal Sync update, only the "app" files in the update are overwritten/updated, so that is how the reformat method is different. The files I shared with others does a few things - removes Gracenotes, downgrades to a version of Sync that can run the reformat utility, then runs the reformat utility and extracts all of the Sync files and Nav data from the USB drive to the APIM.
If you want to read into it/all about it, this thread uses the same process to allow people to go from Sync 3 to Sync 3.4 versions (since there is no officially supported upgrade path from Ford) - https://www.f150forum.com/f118/upgra...ctions-458828/
There is also a utility from a website called CyanLabs that alot of people use. It automates the exact same process with a few button clicks, so it's popular because of the ease of use. They have their own forum with very helpful admins for discussion of their tool.

I have tried the Cyanlabs tool with no success. Is there anyway to get a copy of the Barrytone one? Any help would be extremely appreciated.
What doesnt/didn’t work when you tried it?
As mentioned earlier in the thread, the files I have are the same that the Cyanlabs tool will build for you, so if that didn’t work then what I have won’t be any better. I’m just offering the files for those that don’t want to install a 3rd party tool on their computer.

I installed on my flash drive, started truck, plugged it in, it updated. Said it updated successfully and to remove the drive. I shut truck off, waited a couple minutes, started truck. It didn’t ask all of the start up questions. I added my phone. Shut truck off. Waited 15 minutes, started truck and phone had been forgotten.
is there a chance that I need to do multiple master resets in order to clear up enough space for it to remember my settings? Does the usb update clear all the backlogged memory space?

I'd plug your drive back in and leave it even after it says update complete to see if the process proceeds further.
