Today I spoke to ford Canada and they claim there is no issue at all with the current update. They said it has to be a hardware issue. I told them there are countless people on this forum with the same issues that all started around the same time. I was then told to not believe everything I see on the internet. Way to have our backs ford.
Maybe we should all contact your service advisor one by one seeking help with the issue?
I contacted Ford about the SYNC 3 problem after update. TSB 22-2254 addresses the issue.
I can confirm TSB 22-2254 does NOT resolve the issue. See my post #60 above. Only change is my memory issues are now worse. Saved addresses are forgotten, map zoom preferences are lost, etc.
I’ve been trying to get to another dealership to see if they will order me a new APIM before my warranty runs out. The service advisor at the first dealership I went to said he would talk to his radio guy, but he never got back to me
The issues everyone is seeing is likely due to what is being called a bug in the latest release(s) of Sync. The rwdata folder fills up with log files, so no amount of Sync reinstall of the same version will fix the issue.
You can validate this by downloading what is called the interrogator utility from Ford here, and creating a USB drive. On the root of the USB drive (exFAT formatted), create a folder called SyncMyRide and copy the file I linked into that folder. Also in the root of the USB drive, create a file called autoinstall.lst, the contents of which you'd want to make:
Also create an empty file called DONTINDX.MSA on the root of the drive. So, the drive would look like this:
Plug the drive into your truck and let it run for a minute. It should generate a .xml file on the USB drive. If you open that XML file, most of the way down the contents, there will be an entry of /fs/rwdata/ = x/xG. If the first number is 0 or close to it, your rwdata folder is out of or very low on space and causing the issue.
There's two ways I've seen to resolve the issue. One is using the reformat method disuccsed in several threads on this forum, however that is not an option for MY20 (maybe even late MY19) due to the reformat process not working with those units. The other, and probably easiest way I've seen to solve the issue is actually to Jailbreak your APIM. There is a "mod" to clear out the rwdata folder contents, freeing up space and therefore resolving the issue. Head over to fmods.net and create an account. There is a tutorial there for the Jailbreak process, as well as how to run the mods. If you are halfway decent with following directions, you should be able to do the whole process in less than an hour.

You are correct - at least for my situation. Unfortunately, I have a 2020 so I can't reformat. Since it's still under warranty and I question my APIM's health (and would like to eventually get a new one), I'll hold off on jailbreaking it.
Do you have more context? You might need to do a few master resets to try and free up just enough space if the "step 1" of the jailbreak process won't work. You do need to follow the directions very closely, especially the reboot timing. It's very easy to not get the reboot timing right.

Thanks for confirming. FWIW, the "jailbreaking" term in this context is kind of extreme use of the word IMO, it's not really doing anything besides installing a little utility that allows the 3rd party mods to run. In fact, just reinstalling Sync removes the "jailbreak" because it's only running in the active software partition. But, I totally understand as I tend to not get into the 3rd party stuff myself, but wanted to toss it out here as an option since this issue seems to be affecting quite a few folks. I hate to see so many people going to the dealer for a hardware swap when it's likely just a software issue for most. The APIM revisions in the MY19 and MY20 seem to be pretty reliable hardware wise.

Mine's always been super slow to startup and sometimes shows the no GPS warning, which makes me think I have some form of a hardware issue. The stuff this thread discusses is happening to mine, but even before that it didn't seem totally right.
