Go to www.fmods.net. They have all the information and support as well as the files you need. Start there and then if you have any problems with any of the files, let us know.

Looking into it now. Not sure exactly what I’m looking for on fmods. Is that we’re I only dl daemon and still need Do I need to get the rwdata cleaner downloaded as well. Also do I need CyanLabs for this process. If so what part does it play.

You need the jailbreak file to allow it to read other code first.

then the daemon installer to be able to install the new files

then the mod tools to be able to modify your existing system (not needed if just trying to upgrade). If you install modtools you can run any additional mods you want.

this is when you use the rwdata cleaner to make some additional room in your unit (does not require modtools if you don’t plan on adding additional mods). Some people have had success just using the cleaner.

now you can go to Cyanlabs.com. They create the upgrade on a usb stick so you can plug it in and upgrade it without trying to download the entire file on your unit. It’s pretty straightforward. Enter your info and they make it. Plug it in and it will downgrade/upgrade your unit to the update past the errors. I just upgraded from the 22251 version to the most recent and it’s perfect now.

Hey there! Mind shooting us a private message with your VIN and dealer name/location? I'll gladly check out these SYNC issues for you and see how I can help! Thanks!

Until a time when Ford maybe admits there's an issue and produces an official utility or update to address it, fixing it will either be via a reformat process or the jailbreak process, so it's kind of up to the individual on how they want to approach it. MY20 and newer would have to jailbreak because reformatting will make their setup unusable.

Since the installs I compiled contain Ford proprietary binaries, I prefer not to post them publicly, but if someone wants them instead of using the Cyanlabs utility, feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll send the info over.

Any chance you could send it to me as well? My PM's aren't yet active (didn't realize I've had an account here for years and not really used it...). I have 5 posts, but still no PM capabilities

I just went through this saga a few weeks ago. My SYNC3 started showing lost memory symptoms for a few weeks (Reverting 5 pages of presets to 2, forgetting settings, forgetting last station at truck startup, forgetting WIFI connection settings, very annoying). I performed the 3 different types of resets:
  1. Soft reset - no change
  2. Hard reset - no change
  3. Factory reset - lost the SYNC3 completely. All black. No radio, no NAV, no satellite radio, no backup camera, no USB charging, completely dead black screen.
Took it to my dealer where they confirmed customer complaints, diagnosed, and replaced the APIM. All good now. My 3 year warranty had just expired back in early March but I had the EZ Care extended warranty which covered essentially a near $1,000 repair and I paid $250 deductable out of pocket. And now I find this thread that it's Ford's fault? How about a refund of my $250 Ford?
