Been "suffering" with this issue for a few months now, doesn't bother me enough to go through with the Barrytone fix though.
However, started the truck up this morning at 6:30AM after sitting since 8:30PM last night and noticed the units switch from imperial to metric. Has this happened to anybody else?
If the files you have from Cyanlabs are the whole reformat package, it takes way longer than a few minutes (generally just shy of an hour). Sounds like you pulled the USB drive too soon. The reformat process (generally) has 3 steps to the "install": 1. Remove Gracenotes to free up space. You see no noticeable difference on your Sync display. (I think this is where you pulled the drive). 2. Downgrade to a version of Sync that can the run the reformat tool. You will notice the theme/colors goes to the "old" style of Sync. 3. The reformat process. This puts Sync into a very basic screen with some random backgrounds (a Mustang, etc.) and a basic status bar.
I'd plug your drive back in and leave it even after it says update complete to see if the process proceeds further.
I am thinking I didn’t get the right files from cyan labs. I had drive left in for an hour last night. Still same thing, works for a couple hours then starts to go back to what it was doing. (I start and stop my truck a lot for work). Barrytone, is there anyway to get from you so I can make sure I have the correct files? Also, if I have to do the cyan labs again, do I have to still click the 22251 build? Or can I select an earlier one?
So I’m in the process of doing the fix and made it to the step of downloading the downgrade and upgrade from cyanlabs on flash sticks. It’s taking forever. While I’m waiting, can anyone possibly share the service utility file I need to install modtools? I got the cleaner to work since the new upgrade doesn’t require the mod tools to be installed but I’d like to install them for possible future mods. I’ll report my results for the fix also.
Well I have upgraded 4 trks(Family) form Sync 3.0 to 3.4.
2 of them are giving these know issues. Plan to turn auto updates off ASAP!
I know I had to downgrade at one point so I think I still have that USB stick. last update I did on the trucks was 22110. so I am pretty far behind on updates. I used both cynlabs and this forum sync 3 to 3,4 over the past few years on updating.
But still not clear on the fix. For 2019 and earlier ONLY cynlabs reformat should be ok. Dont need to install 3rd party software?
I know the one stick(was a full reformat w/22110 does take about a hour to load. Was gonna try that first and go from there.
or are we saying That stick wont boot because there is ZERO room on the drive in the APIM?
Hoefully I explained my thougths clear.
Thanks
edit 2 of the trucks not working have 3.4.22251
other is 22110(So far is good -= Turned off WIFI updates)
So I just fixed my two trucks stuck on the 22511 update. I did the jailbreak (very easy) and used the cleaner. Then used Cyanlabs for the update. Works perfect and I was able to Mod a bunch of settings on both trucks with no issues. Thanks for all the support on this thread.

The jailbreak method can be used for any MY, the reformat method is only for 2019 and earlier due to the incompatibility of the reformat utility with MY20 and newer. If you are MY19 or earlier, it's just personal preference on which way to go.
If you can't get the reformat process (or downgrade required to be able to launch the reformat process) to work due to insufficient free space, then the jailbreak method is probably best, since the script/mod to clear the space has been updated work when space is too low for anything else to work.
Hello all. New to the forum but have been having all the same issues listed on my 2020 fusion. Dealer has looked into the issue multiple times this past week to no avail. Multiple master resets and module checks etc. Nothing. I have seen there may be a jailbreak fix but have not been able to find the step by step procedure. Would @barrytone or anyone else that has successfully done this fix be able to help me out. Beyond frustrated at this point..
This is actually what I wrote to one of my friends that explains the process, he had an understanding of the process already so it might seem a little vague if you are completely new to it. You will need to set up an account on Fmods for all the downloads.
You technically only need one usb flash drive but it takes longer to keep going back and forth. You just download the jailbreak file on the flash drive and hook up forscan to your truck. Go to “reset APIM” but keep the cursor on “ok” in the forscan software. When you plug in the flash drive, it will read “detecting”, “indexing” (or something like that), and then say “error…”. The second you see it say “error” click ok to reset. This exploits the jailbreak. Mine only took like 3 -5 seconds.
If you clicked it quick enough, wait for it to reboot and put in the flash drive with the three files under “daemon installer” and it will say “detected”, “indexing”, then a screen saying “a-team” will pop up and say “daemon installer installed”. That’s the whole process for just about every modification.
For the “mod tools”, you have to add that “service utility” file in the “sync” folder then put it in the flash drive (I got it set up if you want it). It will install the “mod tools” which is the last system file unless you do some advanced installs like allowing separate games/ technical apps.
I chose to install a few apps that eliminate the warning messages with navigation/ rear view camera, custom backgrounds, transparent button bars, and basic stuff like that. Easy download and plug in the drive. The installers/tools does the rest and verifies success after installed.
For the custom backgrounds after you install them, make another flash drive with a folder called “customerBackgrounds” with two sub folders “day” & “night”. Save your desired day and night images in those folders. Resize any images (I used jpg) to 800x450 pixels or close and put them in the day or night folder. ***When you save the names, do not use a space in them. Use an underscore if desired or else it won’t detect it and you will go back and forth to your laptop cussing for an hour trying to figure out why! 😅 Plug in the usb and under your display options you now have “add” as a button to read and save off the flash drive.

Is there a specific location for correct jailbreak files I need for my 20 fusion? Also those mods that you did sound very nice. Getting that files from you would be much easier to me as I am brand new to this. Semi tech savvy tho.
