I'm going to try it without removing the axle nut, hopefully it will work.

Is it recommended to remove the axle nut and IWE for the install?
I’ve seen mixed install videos, some do, some don’t.
If you remove it, I believe you need to apply a vacuum to get the splines lined up.
I think I only saw one video that used a vacuum.

Going through all these posts now but any help with be appreciated.

Yes, remove the spindle nut to install the coilovers. Don't screw around loosening the lower control arm like videos say.
You don't need a vacuum pump to reinstall the IWE. What you do is, stick it back in the hub, and install spindle nut. Spin the rotor by hand tightening as you go the spindle nut, you'll know when everything meshes, halfshaft will want to turn. Finish up by torqueing to 33ft#.
By taking out the IWE, the knuckle and lower control arm can be lowered plenty to get the coilover back in.

Anyone have this particular RC 2" level part no. T540320?

I'm running 17x9, -6 offset with 285/70r17 bfg ko2's on my 2019 FX4 and rubbing just enough to irritate me (had 0 rubbing on my 2013).
Price point on these is nice ($50) but was concerned with the life expectancy of the material. TIA.

Thank you. Will the halfshaft turn when it is in place? How would i know exactly?
I also read that i could measure how much of the axle bolt is coming thru the hub.

You won't be able to turn the halfshaft any more than to just take up the slop in the diff. You can rotate the rotor back and forth just a little bit, you'll know when the teeth engage, it's pretty apparent.
Never heard of anyone measuring the axle bolt. Once you get the nut tight by hand, just snug, take a torque wrench to it. It's very easy to do.

I guess I don't fully understand how the IWE system is put together...so when you remove the axle nut and pull the axle out, on reassembly you just have to work the rotor back and forth as you're putting it back together? Or is that done after the axle is fully inserted? I just don't want to ruin anything and have heard so many issues that it makes me nervous.

This video on replacing an IWE will show you what I'm saying. A picture worth a thousand words? The whole video is a good tutorial, and as you replace the coilovers/shocks whatever, the steps overlap. I'd suggest watching the whole video, but if you're impatient, about the 15 minute mark he reinserts the axleshaft. Notice his turned, he's got both wheels off the ground though.

Well hell that makes it look super easy. So was the issue that people were just sticking the axle back through the hub and tightening it down without making sure everything's engaged properly?
