Does anyone know if there is a storage space undeneath the black rectangular thing? I don't know how to describe it, but it's underneath the mat in that tiny storage area. I tried opening it and it looks like a latch, but didn't want to risk breaking ng anything.

That's a access panel to allow you to override the shift lock. You pull that off & you'll see a little white piece that you push down to manually release the lock - No storage space... you can see all the way down to the floor

Don't know if this was mentioned because I kind of skipped through this thread, and I know it works for 15' and 16' trucks. If for some reason you forget your door code or purchased your truck used and didn't receive one you can retrieve it thru your info display, But you need both sets of keys or Smart Keys to accomplish this.
1: Insert 1st key into ignition and switch to on without starting it for about 4 seconds
2: turn ignition off and remove key
3: Insert 2nd key into ignition and switch to on without starting it, and your door code will display
Don't know how it works with the Smart Key, because I only have the actual keys and it worked for me.
Here's a youtube link that shows you how to do it with both styles of keys

Surprisingly, when I did this tonight just to test it out, the code did come up, but the vehicle display showed the number as 71xxx, while the card that came with the truck says 72xxx. Since it is the same number pad for 1 & 2, it doesn't matter, but I thought that was pretty odd.
Well in the brief time I've been a member and a subscriber of this thread and the "best tips under $50" thread I've:
- outfitted the center console with a perfect fitting storage organizer
- added hooks for carrying bags of purchases off the seats
- discovered the extra storage space behind the rear seat
- learned how to access spare tire and tools (handier than at 3 am in a snow storm)
- solved the condundrum of stuff sliding to the front of the box
- discovered the "secret access" to the climate menu on my screen
and more that I have yet to check out...
Next step for sure is improving the stock headlights so I can actually see at night.
OK, I experimented a bit more. What you do is simultaneously press both recirc and ac quickly twice, like double clicking a mouse. Brings the screen up every time, whether the AC is on or not.
Heres some pictures of what to press and what you end up with. All of the screen buttons work except dual temp control. AFAIK it's just the regular climate control screen for folks w that option installed.
I know it's a glitch, but I actually like that I can get to this now. I like having something neutral, but still useful, on the big led screen. Less distracting.
This does not work on my 2018 STX SuperCrew.
When I push the recirc and a/c buttons twice, it causes the hvac system to shutdown. The passenger airbag warning light turns off and the ambient lighting in the dash turns off. All of these stay off for about 2-3 seconds and then turn back on. Except the hvac. I have to either turn that back on manually or repeat the button pushing again to turn it on.
