My understanding is the seat icons are gone because they didn't work properly in controlling the seats like the buttons do. So Ford's "fix" was to remove the icons.

I turned my seat buttons on years ago and they are working fine.. Seeing as how I have to turn them on every time I start the truck makes it more convenient having the seats and steering wheel all in a row..

His phrasing is confusing since he uses the term 'turn on' for multiple things. What he means is he used ForScan to put the seat buttons on the screen years ago and they are working fine. Seeing as how he has to activate those buttons every time he starts the truck to heat the seats, it makes it more convenient have the seats and steering wheel buttons on the screen all in a row.
Well in the brief time I've been a member and a subscriber of this thread and the "best tips under $50" thread I've:
- outfitted the center console with a perfect fitting storage organizer
- added hooks for carrying bags of purchases off the seats
- discovered the extra storage space behind the rear seat
- learned how to access spare tire and tools (handier than at 3 am in a snow storm)
- solved the condundrum of stuff sliding to the front of the box
- discovered the "secret access" to the climate menu on my screen
and more that I have yet to check out...
Next step for sure is improving the stock headlights so I can actually see at night.
Awesome tips and info everyone!
Hi,
Which post is the storage organizer and stuff sliding to the front?
Stupid question time: my FOBs have the valet key and my truck came with a valet key (2018 Lariat 502A). However, I see no exterior key lock or interior ignition key?! I've looked multiple times. Went through owner manual and find nothing there either. What am I missing?
I believe that there is a small piece of trim on the door handle that can be removed to allow access to the key lock on the drivers side door.
Ok, for the OCD, like myself, in the crowd, here's a fix to the annoying sliding around of the console tray. I took some furniture gripper blanket and cut it to fit and replace the felt textured material on the underside of the rails of the tray. The tray now stays very solidly in one place and will not move without definite force. I do not have any way to know how long the gripper pad will last in this application, but I think it will hold up pretty well for me, as I do not have to move the tray around very often, other than to put it back on the right side where I prefer it.
I cut the material about 1/4" wide (I did not measure, just eyeballed it and cut it with scissors).
Then placed it up under the lip - front is shown in red, but do the same for the back end of it. There is a velvety or felt-like tape in place that doesn't work well, but has amazing glue holding it in place, so be prepared to tug mightily to remove it. The tape on the gripper, on the other hand, is not that tacky, so it was kind of a challenge to get it to stick, but once the weight of the tray was on it, it seemed to lock in place. Good luck!

The other trick is to use a fat rubber band. Keeps the tray from sliding side to side also.
