Hints, Tips and Tricks
Well, if they did unlock with the fob inside anyone could get in/car jack you while sitting at a red light and defeating the purpose of the auto lock, no? You can also lock it with a second fob and it will only unlock with the second fob in proximity (based on our 18 and 20 explorers), both via handle or locked with fob/keypad and unlocked with door handle. The fob used to unlock the doors via handles has to be outside the vehicle.
My point was just to point out that the location has changed. Yes, I know its for programming. No need to get your God involved. In previous years, if you left your fob in your truck and locked it via the pad it would lock the doors and deactivate the easy entry (or what ever its called when you touch the handle). Some people do this to avoid carrying the fob on them and used the previous location. Its not a bad idea if your going surfing, fishing, hiking.... Not sure if its still the case with the 2019. I'll check this out later on today.
I have left my keys and wallet in my truck and locked using the keypad but I have the switchblade key instead of push button start and I hide the key behind my rear seat. If I had the push button start the key would stay in my pocket when hiking.
Thief can still bust a window and take off with the truck since the fob is inside.

It's your truck, make your own decision on relative risk. Plenty of people around here leave unlocked car at the trailhead, with the keys inside. If you want to leave a keyless fob in the truck, stash it out of sight and in an anti transmission bag so the truck can't see it; at that point, it's not really any different than having a normal key stashed in the truck.
But some of these people are leaving their key fob in their truck all the time just because "it's to much to carry" that's a quote from a different thread.
Guess I'm old school since I still carry around my wallet and keys all the time except for those rare hikes that may have a nice place to dive in and cool off.

Like many others I sometimes leave my fob locked in the truck. Over concern of a thief busting a window, I hide my key in a faraday bag (rfid signal blocker). Even if someone knew the fob was in the truck, it would take a long time to find it . Lots of choices of faraday bags under ten dollars.

The flash requires a visit to the dealer, can it be done wirelessly?
I am positive my truck has auto up and down for the front windows, the rears I gotta roll up/down manually.
