Hmmm. Not sure what you're referring to. Definitely not on the steering wheel. Not on the left lower dash. Not on the driver side door panel. Scrolled thru the DIC menu again for the umpteenth time and didn't see it. What am I not understanding?

New owner--old Ford guy, however--of an '18 XL with the 4" menu screen and wondering if there's a way to disable the auto-lock feature (without using FORScan). Looked in the OM and thru the DIC and can't find that option. I don't even want to share the number of times I've hopped out of the truck, left the engine running to run around the back of the truck to get something out of the bed only to find...F#@%!!! The tailgate is locked!!!

Is there a hidden button press option to turn off the 8" screen instead of hunting thru the settings? That would be awesome. Perhaps a double tap of some button.....please.

If so, I am interested in this also. My ‘09 had a hard button under the display labeled “DISP” - when you hit that button it would turn off the screen but keep the bottom border lit with basic info, next press was totally off, then one more press to turn it back on.
I rarely drive at night anymore but when I do that center screen needs to be off.

I just looked in the manual - there is a voice command for “display” and should be able to dim the screen that way - will have to try it to tonight.
I never use the voice commands for anything so I didn’t even think of that.

Had an idea. My next truck is a base model 2018 xl scab. There are lots of add ons like a 36 gal tank, tow package etc. but because it's a work truck it only has the basic sync system. My idea was rather than shell out a pile of cash for a new stereo, take the data only SIM card out of my iPad and put it in a spare iphone I have. Then plug it into the sync, stow it in the storage box on the console and forget about it. Now I have streaming music, wifi hotspot, always on gps to locate my truck, turn by turn directions, Siri. What's not to like? I checked online and it looks like you can take an iPad data sim and use it in an iPhone. 10 bucks a month on my plan. If it works I'll have a poor mans sync three. I'll let you all know.
