Hi everyone!

I am at my wit's end trying to get my new Kicker Hideaway to work!

I have a 2017 XLT with the 8" touchscreen (non-nav)

I wired up the Kicker Hideaway using a wpt1212 harness.

I enabled the subwoofer and chose 6 speaker + sub using Forscan. (I've also tried other combinations, 6 speaker, 7 speaker, yes sub, no sub, etc.)

The blue light is on on the sub, but I get no thumping. Nada.

I was under the impression that some XL owners need to splice into the speaker L+R wires, but not XLT owners. Is that correct?

Anything else I should be trying?

I had similar issues with a Rockford PS8. I was getting some output but barely enough to hear a difference even with the gain all the way up. In the end I tapped the rear speaker wires. Works great now more bass then I need. Not sure if this was an issue with the sensitivity on the input of my amp or something not going through Forscan correctly.

A few things to try:
-Make sure you wired the 6v remote wire
-Auto on set to 12v
-Input level set to low
-Phase 0

Also, to eliminate a possible variable, set it up without the remote until you get it to work.

I've got the same package as you, an XL w/8", and have been following along to this thread closely. It seems that tapping into a door speaker is our only solution as the speaker inputs at the plug just aren't active. On a positive note, it might end up being worth the slight extra trouble because you'll end up getting a system without the pop sound.

I've been patiently waiting for someone to post an alternative solution, perhaps figuring out how to use the plug only, but so far it hasn't happened. Will be following along to see how you end up wired and how you like the sound!!

I've got my input level set to high. But I enabled external speaker not external subwoofer. Should I be enabling external subwoofer and low input level?

It's been working great so far.

Input level LOW. And turn up the gain on the amp. External speaker or external subwoofer shouldn't matter. I got mine set to external subwoofer and it works.

I'm sure you know this already but make sure you hit WRITE on forscan after you make a selection.

Sounds like someone with a XL needs to trace their harnesses to see if it's missing a wires somewhere between the radio and harness plug

If I am not mistaken, external speaker setting feeds a full signal to the sub, while external subwoofer setting feeds a low signal which has already gone through a factory crossover. Since the hideaway already has its own crossover, I decided to feed it a full signal and choose a high input level so that the signal does not go through the factory crossover and the kicker crossover. Is my logic flawed?

Maybe my memory is bad, but I think I chose Ext speaker, as I didn't want 2 crossovers fighting over territory. The signal was low level though. My logic says "external" may mean "no amp"?

Hmm... Okay I will try low level on the hideaway and see how it sounds.
