I've been patiently waiting for someone to post an alternative solution, perhaps figuring out how to use the plug only, but so far it hasn't happened. Will be following along to see how you end up wired and how you like the sound!!
Just for clarification, I have an XLT, not an XL.

With my settings set to "external speaker" I switched between hi and low input level. I didn't notice a huge difference, but low input level seemed to sound slightly better so I am going to leave it there. Thanks for the advice.

I ended up tapping into my L and R speaker wires to get mine working. I am still using the wpt1212 harness for the Power and the blue wire for auto turn on.

However, I get barely any output from the sub. If I put my ear near it, I can hear "something" coming from it, but its not very noticeable. If I turn my radio all the way up, to 30 or so, there is some extra bass, but at lower volumes, there really is nothing new.

Any clues as to what I am doing wrong?

you tried adjusting the gain? Mine is hooked up the same way. Works fine. Definitely noticeable. Make sure you have high pass selected also.

Yes, I tried tweaking everything on the Hideaway itself, and playing with settings in FORSCAN. Not really too impressed. I think I might return it and go with a Rockford Fosgate 10" in a slim enclosure. I'm looking for more punchiness in low to mid level volumes and just not getting it. Sounds OK at very loud volume, though.

I don't think it is set up correctly, so can't really base your impressions on a sub that isn't wired correctly.

What are your FORScan settings?

Low Pass -Not High Pass
And the output from the sub connector when set to subwoofer, is a very low output level, and does not seem entirely linear, as it is weak at low volume.

I'm sure this has been beaten to death but I'm not having any luck. I appreciate the help in advance.

2016, with nav. I've wired up the kicker hideaway using a factory plug. I used forscan to enable 7 speaker with kicker and aux sub.

I'm barely getting any output. Also, I noticed that if I only wire it to one of the inputs to the kicker (grey wires) it has slightly more volume, though not much more.

I was going to try returning to the non-kicker 7 speaker setting but I don't see it in the menu. All of the options are with kicker now.

HALP?!?!

Well, maybe I figured it out but I'm hoping someone can verify.

It still has more sound with only one speaker input wired into the sub.

I manually changed my settings using Forscan and the values on the spreadsheet.

It's working much better but it's still a little less than I would have expected. Maybe it's just me though?

Aux Sub on
Crew Cab with 7 speaker and subwoofer

I have the gain turned all the way up. If I turn the gain down, the bass goes completely away. The bass boost **** doesn't seem to have any affect at all.

I've tried every conceivable combination of Forscan settings, and settings on the sub without much change in the overall bass output.

Like odell2115, I am just not getting much bass at low-mid volumes.

I don't know how to do settings with Hex values, so I guess I'm stuck with this.
