I put the truck up on stands tonight getting ready to do the upper arms, shocks, LBJ's, etc, and the driver's side hub (which I was waiting on until I did all this other stuff). Spun the driver's side wheel to make sure it was clearing the floor, and..... Well, y'all remember this?
Unless I got a new half-shaft with exactly the same problem... it isn't the CV joint.

I may just leave the new shafts in, but DAMMIT! It looks like I didn't need 'em.

I'll remove 'em! I'll remove 'em! (I have to anyway.)

Will advise what I find, but it's sounding more like its coming from the diff now. I might have been focusing on the "outside" stuff since that's what's always made noise in the past? Maybe I'll have my "reason" for doing the gear swap after all. I mean, if I have to have the front torn apart anyway.....

..

Btw, be meaning to tell yuh, finally installed those wheel liner add ons. The pieces that protect the back of the headlights. They push-pinned right in, took about 5 sec's to install. Makes the drivers side liner look complete as the add-on piece is larger on that side. With the 98's remote filter, it covers and protects the filter against road rash along with the heads and bumper from the same. The passenger side is smaller, but also does the same. Smaller , but enough to protect the heads completely from a direct spray from the front tires. Definitely worth the few bucks spent. The pieces are formed exact and rigid enough to take abuse. Removing the Ford stickers all over the damn things sucked, they were plastered lol.

I wondered how those would be with the remote filter. Glad they've worked out. Sounds like they're not as flimsy as you thought, eh? I don't regret making/installing my extensions in the least. It took more than 5 seconds, but the price was right, and every time I see them plastered with crud and mud, I just smile.

Well if you're not any a hurry you can literally sell anything on Craigslist. Had a 79 f150 2wd frame for sale for over a year. Wasn't in a hurry to sell just wouldn't mind some extra $$$ if someone needed a frame. Some one finally picked it up for $100. He's happy, my wallet is happy, and better yet the wife is happy! Lol

Yea the pieces weren't flimsy, those were Ford and matched the original liner grade material. The liners purchased with were cheap and flimsy, I looked at those again to see if I might be able to use them for anything in the future on that truck...Iduno, maybe lol. Guess I'll hang onto them, might use them to reinforce what's on there now at some point. Had a roll of 3M rubber, used it up on another project, but that's the best stuff for the wheel well. It's not pre-formed, so it needs to be pinned tight around transitions. Really could use one of those plastic rivet guns lol.

That would work, to get it the hell out of the way. Guess you could of scrapped it, but then you have to get it there lol. I pass a house on the way to the kids which has a decorated metal scrap container, asking for scrap metal...I made a few deposits lol.
