Yea, my daughter went through the same, -new system, quit working a couple years later. She said they had to replace everything once more. It was warrantied thankfully, but yea , it was over a grand to get it done the first time around.

Well, I was happy that they admitted that they should have replaced the condenser in the beginning. I can tell you that it sounds a lot quieter now. The new compressor was always louder than the original, and I did not hear it at all on the way home.

Those damn orifaces in the AC sure can clog up and stop the system. I actually don't have a lot of AC experience, it wasn't a big thing until later up here. Lots of vehicles were ordered without it. Once it started becoming standard equipment, it became popular. Now with the climate changing so much up here, it has become a summer necessity. Of course with having AC, the defroster works so much better.

On my picture, that is a GIMP pic. My daughter sent me that picture, so I imposed Red on it to show where I wanted to go next. LOL

Like AK, I have even less AC experience. Haven't had to troubleshoot a system yet, auto mech has always been sort of a hobby...AND necessity lol. Regardless, from what I gather, there's a lot that go wrong with this system and usually on older vehicles the entire system needs replacing. From what I've picked in the past about it, -if you half *** fix it, you could easily ruin new components incorporating them with older components. Which would be even more costly/time consuming. So, need to spend the time researching, then going threw the thing completely on the 98....when I get to it lol.

Did you replace pretty much everything white?

Yeah, when an A/C system blows up, most everything gets contaminated, and needs to be replaced. When my Mustang's quit, it was due to a degraded center O-ring seal, so I avoided full system overhaul, and just re-sealed the compressor. I did, though, have to do it twice, since I must have nicked the shaft seal when I slid it on.

Big O did it. They said everything was caught by the orifice tube. There is nothing in the second part of the filter, so I feel that is accurate. If it quits again, they're going to find out what it's like to poke a bear with a sharp stick. I'm tired of this mess.

Don't poke our BEAR. Lol. He has more replacement parts than my F150 does. ROFL. At least he's doing well.
