Yea, I think we got 4" or so, perhaps 3 weeks back? The ground was warmer, it didn't stick for long. I don't recall it being cold for this long. March was usually warmer than this ? Iduno, suppose to get a little warm spell here next week, 60 by thurs, but then drop back down to 40's as the highs for the following week. Crap, kid wants me to work on her car, I have to make room in her garage for it first. Wasn't planning on that....details!

Hey Brew, I emailed the owner and I'm pretty sure it isn't legit. I'll keep looking out though.

Yesterday I went to the Valley to try and help a friend with his 97 that got hit in the right side, front. When I got there, I saw to truck with only a hood and core support. Fenders off, grille and bumper off. It was a mess. The left front suspension was dropped, the right side bent.

He had an 97 Expy for parts. I looked at the front end pieces, and it had like new front brakes, rotors, calipers. We found the receipt in the glove box, and they were changed 1267 miles ago. You can bet I snatched those bad boys up, along with the new brake hoses and the dual booster set up. I figure that Blue deserves an upgrade like lil Red and Brew's truck. I have a new 14mm hub, and checked the rotors today, and they fit over the new hubs. I think all the newer rotors are one size cut anymore. Anyways, stroke....

We used a portapower and popped the front frame horn over the 3/4 inch it needed, and the rad support bolted right up. I was surprised that this truck went back together so well. I was almost ready to just say to hell with it, and fix the Expy. Once the torsion bars got fixed, it just fell together, like it wanted to get back on the road. I've never worked on a vehicle that seems to want to live more than this one. It was like it had a life and like being able to move. LOL

Anyone ever had a wheel off these, look perfect, but be so freaking crooked, that is would hit on the frame when it turned. Sitting straight, it looked fine. The inside was so tweaked. I've seen them bend all over, but it showed. This one didn't show, on the front, but the back was mangled.

Thanks jp! Yea, too good to be along with not making sense. Any dealership in the area would cash that out in minute...bonus! Once the power train was confirmed anyway. I have found some great deals on CL in the past that have panned out, but so many have ruined the credibility factor, you never know...heightened in that sites case lol.

When i was a kid, Dad would buy totaled Rancheros and fix them up- ive watched him put anchor plates in the garage floor and use 3/4ton chain type come-a-longs to straighten frames- all by measure and windage- i dont think he ever missed one that they couldnt align on the rack-
he owned some nice Rancheros back then!

A guy on our local fox body page posted a pic of his yesterday with a 20 ton bottle jack pushing the bumper away from the subframe. Looks like it turned out pretty good.

When my buddy wrecked his 85 GT, he had it put on a frame rack. I remember them telling him that the frame rack would straighten out really slowly because they didn't want to make any sudden jerks on it. Maybe it is because it is a subframe? But most people I know give frames, etc. a firm tug to straighten them out. Doesn't seem to do the damage that my buddy was told. His GT was on the frame rack for something like 8 hours to straighten it out.

You know, around here, its almost a forgotten art- very few body shops even mess with it-my flying buddy is a body man, he claims, most times if the frame is bent the insurance company will total it out-
you almost have to go to the bigger cities/ bigger shops i guess.

Yeah, insurance companies play a big role in this.

One of his neighbors at the time was the manager at a Jeep dealership, and he got one of the guys in their body shop to do if after hours. I think my Buddy paid him 100 bucks to do it... and then my Buddy's Dad is seriously the best body man I've ever seen, so I did the rest of the body work. My Buddy was at fault and had liability, so, lol.... the insurance kept their noses out of this one. It would have definitely been totaled nowadays. This happened about 24 years ago.

Damn it... I am old.
