Thinking
CAI's aren't really worth a spit unless they come with dry element filters. Even some of those set-up are cheap. The Volant I purchased is identical but I only use the tube. It's the best built alright, but can you get a filter for it ?
Just a thought, and I'm not sure if it will work with yours, but I put my controller in the knee-cubby so it won't get bumped or banged. (This is an old pic from the '99, but it's in the same spot now in the '03.)

EDIT: Here's the '03 with the controller and my bass level control both in the cubby.
If you tow with any regularity, you may find you want to upgrade to a proportional controller. I did so right after a butt-puckering panic stop with our T/T and a standard controller.

As far as the trailer brake.... wish I woulda known about the proportional controller. As far as the location.... yeah, I am 6 foot 3, and I'm sure there's a high possibility that will get in the way. The guy that owned it before me had one there, so I just used his old spot. He was a short guy though..... not sure if that made it easier for him to have it there? LOL. There are some other holes I might move it to where he had a HAM radio, or maybe it was a police radio. He was a K9 cop and used this truck a lot to transport his dog(s).
I saw some idiot posting "should have bought a Chevy" on this ^^^^. I told the guy, "I'd like to see an S10 on the road, let alone carry this rock around". Crickets....
I don't know about where you guys are, but the Ranger to S10 ratio here is like 100 to 1. The S10 is scarce.
