Wow... you don't see those everyday. We still have a machine with a 486 in it. (DOS programming too)

My first computer was a Commodore 64. There was no hard disk and instead had a cassette player for storing programs and data. Hard to believe it was cutting edge technology for home computing at one time. It's life only lasted a couple of years because of how fast technology was advancing. I remember my first 486SX. A math co-processor for CAD and Modeling was a major breakthrough.

At least there is a ventilation system where I am now, LOL. Doesn't prevent all though.
A bit of an off topic stretch but in the 80's my mother got involved with some interfaith organizations and became friends with a lady from the Lutheran Church whose job was to find cities in the US that would accept groups of Cambodian refugees. I saw a lot in the service that left me believing what most people suffer through they in one way or another brought on themselves so my sympathy and empathy for them usually was never considered. Cambodians became one of the few exceptions.

What Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge were doing to their own people was no secret. Pot believed he could create an agrarian utopia in Cambodia by removing the country from the modern world. Those that weren't among the 25% of Cambodia's population they outright killed, lived a brutal life of re-education about utopia being a place and a state of mind. The terror of their re-education had nothing to do with a place or state of mind.

She shared stories of the biggest problem she had with getting cities to accept refugees was they only felt safe living in large groups where they felt they could protect each other. Because of this as many people as possible that could be fit in to a rented house is how many went in to the houses. The need to live like this violated zoning ordinances everywhere and getting waivers for them was the hardest problem she had to deal with.

When you said Cambodians it reminded me of all this and I wonder if you're referring to one of her refugee groups?

It was and words don't exist to explain the extent of awful. Apparently every home has their large crock for fermenting this stuff. Fortunately I never had to deal with a special holiday blend. I was told of one where squid, shrimp and fish are added to rot along with the cabbage, ginger and garlic. How does anyone ever come up with or discover something like this?

Mine was a TRS-80 Color Computer. Well, the first first one was my Dad's, and that's what I learned on. 4K of memory! Woo-hoo! We expanded the RAM (it even came with a new "button" to indicate that, if I recall correctly) and added a power-on LED, Same as the Commodore, cassette tape was the program storage medium. That computer was later replaced with a CoCo II with 32K which got bumped to 64, had a floppy drive added, and a ROM-pack expander. I don;t even want to think about how much money was wrapped up in those things back then!

Just ordered this today
https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-2-...2300/300405751
Free shipping to the house since no one near had it in stock. Thanks to work and their "recognition program" only cost me $40. Can't complain about the price. I'll be testing it out on the driveway/garage once it gets here this week.

You got me.... I couldn't understand a damn thing they said. All I can tell you is that they were there every day, did the same repetitious jobs, never complained, never called in sick.... and when they were sick, they made some concoction up that smelled worse than the microwaved carp. Really decent people overall. I was 18 at the time and kind of had a crush on one of them that was 19, but she ate that crap too, LOL.

Also had some older Mexican lady that worked there.... she was always hitting on me. I actually did learn a lot of Spanish from her and her nephew. The older woman thing kinda freaked me out at 18, LOL. She was married and had kids, and that was enough for me to decline.

LOL!

It's funny how at 18 we had the ability to see everything about a married, older woman with kids but change that to a crush on a young pretty face and the ability to see or smell anything fades away. I've heard this ability is attributed to what we do our thinking with at 18?
