Getting better S L O W L Y.

I generally heal pretty quickly, but this adjustment of the brain figuring out it needs to use my right eye for distance, and the left for near..... well, it's taking longer than I want it to. It's only been a week though. I've got some friends that have done it that both said it took 2 months for their brain to adjust. The most difficult thing is looking at something close, and then going to focus on something far away. There is an adjustment period there of a couple of seconds for that, which is frustrating.

Thanks for asking.... They told me to limit my screen time, LOL. Yeah right, I'm on a screen most of my day for work.

BTW, your header bolts look like mine do.... I imagine I'll be needing to get in there soon and fix them. Also looks like the cam cover gaskets need replaced on mine....

You sound sort of bummed white. Yea, you just have to give it time. But doesn't the eye have to heal from surgery trauma as well ? Well, I've hurt my eyes in the past, while your eyes heal it seems to get worse before it gets better. So perhaps you have two things going on here. Just guessing of course. There's also night light mode on the screen, not sure if that would help.

That's just a powder effect from moisture and many heat cycles on the heads below the cam cover. They all do that with time, - if you look below the head gaskets, you'll have it there as well. Normal, not leaking. You'll know it when you have a leak. The gaskets go forever with good maintenance and drive them right....proper heat cycles. Exhaust manifold studs, that's nothing as well. They are solid underneath the corrosion. The studs are a grade of stainless, the nuts are not. The studs don't go bad unless they get bent due to the trans mount. But your dipstick tube, that's different, they rust through right were they fasten to the head. You can't see it in your pic because they do so on the back side. That's were you look.

Crap, just lost another entire post...this site, sticks yuh sometimes lol.

Well, I was simply talking about the 4X4 and Trans mount. The 4x4 has never given me any problems, but it's looking kind of nasty by the motor, -

Yea, look at that rust. Looks worse than it is I hope. Also ,both drain and fill plugs leak on the transfer. That's because I used the Permatex thread locker last go around. I ran out out of the Henkle/Locktite. But man, the Permetex should of held up better. I've given the Permatex enough chances...tell yuh that right now lol.

Yea, the trans mount is almost metal to metal again. Have to remove the support anyway to fit the exhaust Y section, I'll replace it. That mount affects way too much shiii not to, -

White, - I just noticed your cam covers are caked. Although the blackening on the heads is normal, the oil coating on the cam covers is not! What's going on there? You must have either had a PCV blockage or your breather has a very poor seal (bad grommet).

Brew....I don't know how to take you. First you talk about Whitey's eyes and now you are talking about his 'grommet'. What is it that you are trying to say? LOL

Whitey...glad you are getting along with adapting. It won't take you long. We have faith in you. I'll PM you tomorrow on the other,

2100.....I didn't say it earlier, or forgot, anyways, your HB is looking like it could be one hell of a nice rig when you get it all done and painted. Is the body work what you took it to your buddy's for? His old 73-75 is kind of unique. My dentside buddy fell in love with it. I actually love the FE engines, I just wish the 78 79 models had it. With their looks and and FE, that would of been my perfect set up.

ROFL - Well actually, not everyone knows how to take things on the internet.....that goes without saying lol. Quite different outside of that. Folks get offended and have some kind of deep seeded anger issues that surface. Sort of gotten use to it over the years. Regardless, there should be enough words in the previous posts there to make heads or tails about things. I'll try harder next time AK lol.

Thanks, yeah I took it up to get the Rust fixed. He's restored 2 dentsides, built 3 dentsides, and currently building a crew cab Cummins swap... he's been around the block when it comes to these trucks lol. Hoping to take advantage of his knowledge and skill to teach me how to do it all the right way (only body work I've done isnon my model b I restored last summer). Plan is when the truck comes back to me it will be Rust free and ready to get onto the restoration phase!

Yeah I can't remember but I think the bed was on an old bumpside wrecker or something. He cut the bed down to fit, custom fitted the fenders, took out the winch/lift but kept the hook bar. It's definitely unique and that's what I love about that truck.

I sometimes go back and forth and like the 78/79 grills better but ultimately I wanted a true Highboy for my first truck it's an FE360 with granny low 4speed. Eventually I plant to add a 78/79 with a flat bed and another Highboy (maybe 76 or 77) to the fleet...eventually lol
