AK, these are the HD's I am using. I get them for 60 bucks locally though. Pretty good drives.

Thats kinda what i’m thinking- i had an ‘89 t-bird that the a/c didnt work well on, problem was the filter/dryer needed replaced and the orifice tube was plugged- it had plenty of gas ( for a while!)
I dont want to repeat this process again!- like you said- 5 benjamins later...

I had everything replaced when they went it, compressor, orifice, and dryer. If I would have been honest with myself a year ago I could have saved some money on r-134, red devil sealant, and a hose system to pay for almost half of the bill. It just seemed easier at the time not to put the truck in the shop. Live and learn I suppose.

Just bought myself some raptor style letting and a polished mesh grille for the front end. Can't wait to get them and put it on the truck.

Anyone have any idea how to identify the paint strip of silver that runs along the bottom of my 01 screw? Base coat is black and I know how to identify that code, but any idea on the bottom strip? I only ask because I'd like to keep the top of the new Ford lettering black and paint the rest the silver.

The 98's AC just quit working last year. No idea what the problem is, trying to ignore it all together lol. Guessing total system replacement is the wise choice ? Troubleshoot first of course, might be just freon...doubtful considering age and miles, lucky it went as long as it did I expect. Something to go on, -before it quit for good, it quit cooling one hot day. Got it home and just after lifting the hood, there was a rush of water from the drain and it began cooling again. But yea, following month it died completely. As said haven't done any troubleshooting, not even sure what the norm is for these systems. However, -since I've had about 19/ 20 seasons of service (2 mths per year roughly), better money spent going with the works...total replacement I expect. I'm not sure about leaks, but I do know the AC lines are rusting in a few spots.

Most likley do everything myself one day, look for new "take offs" off e bay first. I seen every part of the system on E bay in the past and cheap...has to be new though, "takes offs" are and also factory original. That would be the first place to check. Question is, are they still around ? Take-offs use to come from the Romeo plant here in MI. There was quite a few on e bay. Also labeled as "new take offs". Some of you may have experienced this already and in past.

There should be a secondary paint code on the inside of the driver door.

I tried to get mine done with a take off but the plug was wrong and if I changed the wiring Ford wouldn't warranty it so there was that.
Our season down here last 9 months out of the year so no AC isnt really an option. Lol

Thanks. You're right; I'm an idiot and for some reason only recalled seeing the base. Oh well... it happens lol

I'm in TX and went about 3 years with no AC every day... It was brutal. I remember taking the shirt I was planning on wearing to work or somewhere nice with me separate and would put it on in the parking lot when I got there. It wasn't fun. Ended up having the entire system serviced about 2 years ago and now it blows colder than my ol' lady's 2014 Focus.

No worries Tim. It happens to the best of us. I couldn't imagine not having a.c. for three years down there. That would be down right awful.

What sucks is when you DO replace everything (or pay to have it done) and the damn thing doesn't work 22 months later.
