The red cased one over the orange. The better hose makes all the difference to me. It probably means that the whole thing is just better. Besides the oranges seems to be out of stock with Amazon itself, and the red is readily available. Check HD and Lowes also. They both have a similar small vac, but i haven't looked that deep into them, just saw them on display.

I was leaning towards that one, I glad it doesn't come with attachments! Yea I could use the hose, I do have the commercial orange hose set up, but it's a large 2.5". I don't know about you guys but, -over the years you tend to collect attachments. Have those coming out my ears lol. I've had Ridgid vacs for...thinking back, I can for say for sure more than 15 years. Still have my first one. Cant recall the gallons but it was the largest they made at the time. I have the mid size version as well. Was on a job where I needed two of those vacs. I recall using the first one to dig extra deep post holes, yea they even excavate given the chance lol.
Brew, I have two shop vacs..... One is an actual Shop Vac brand, and the other is a Craftsman. The Craftsman is a better vac, but really awkward to use. I keep saying I'm going to replace the Shop Vac with a Rigid as soon as it gives up the ghost, because the motor has been making noise for a couple years.... and I personally think I'd go with the orange unit you posted. I really want to also find me a wall mounted vacuum with a really long hose - because I'd like to have this set up in my garage. I'm kind of a nerd in that way, LOL.
Well.... I spent last night and this morning looking at this. Didn't take a pic of where it's at now... this was this afternoon. Got the front cover and valve/cam covers back on. Had to pull the passenger side injectors to pull the cam cover off. What a joke that side is... Ford did it really stupidly. Are the covers on our 2V's a big PITA to take off? Asking for a friend, LOL.
That doesn't look like a 2V....3V maybe..it is lol
Cam Covers are a bitch on the 2V, royally when cover bolts strip by firewall and won't come out....MANNN does that ruin your day. Other than that , no problem.
This is the friend of mine that wanted to pay me to do it. I told him I'd help him instead.
I'm just hoping, like he says, that it ran good when he shut it off. He says it ran fine, but was just noisy. So I left the timing where it was. He said it has a cylinder with low compression already.... but I have no idea how the "mechanic" could have checked it, because he said he doesn't think they removed a plug.
Yea, he must have one of those really smart phones or it's BS on the compression. It would be cool if the on board could monitor compression...one day lol.
Yea the only reason why I could never purchase a wall mount, -they exhaust from the front. I most definitely know how much that would screw me up lol.
The 2 stage motor, - it's the first I've heard that advertised. Not sure how that's set up, could be better or worse as far as heat and longevity. Not sure about two stage....not that one anyway.
