On Saturday I gave the old girl some lovin'. I changed the oil and air filter. Threw away a filter that most people would deem acceptable, LOL. I like changing the air filter every other oil change. What do you guys do?

Also changed the oil on the little Toyota and when I was at O'Reilly getting the filter, I had an interesting conversation with the feller at the parts desk. I asked him what the recommended interval was on the WIX XP, and come to think of it.... he never answered my question. But he did tell me "I only change the filter on my vehicles every 30,000 miles". I almost asked him for the VIN number of every vehicle he's owned so I could never ever purchase one. What the freak? Who the hell thinks it's OK to go that far? This dude is nuts. I thought I was pushing limits going to 5,000 miles.

BTW, one of you guys.... (maybe 2100?) posted some data on the EcoGard oil filters. I was wondering if you could post your link again? I think it was a thread on BITOG, IIRC.

I've got about 70,000 on my air filter, still looks new. But yea, it's 100,000 mile air filter. Cost 30 bucks though. I think jp has one as well.

I ran the same amsoil air filter for about 100k but it got soaked in that flood a while back and collapsed on me. I dried it out and ran it for way too long and just changed it last week.

I forgot how long a normal filter would run, I would wait until it browned at the bottom. When the dirt begins to embed. I know I use to change them often.

I'll be going with Wix again. I've used Wix filters since high school, before the Amsoil anyway. Amsoil doesn't make them anymore for these trucks...that sucks.

Sort of on the back burner, but curios to see if you can purchase an air box for a Amsoil filter. One that would adapt to our set ups.

FWIW, The Microgard air filters also appear to be made by WIX. I know for a fact WIX does the Microgard oil filters, but by appearance, the air filters look to be as well.

To save my air filters in the summer up here, I take and wrap an old leg of pantyhose (double wrapped) around my filters. We get so many bugs running the roads, that it pays to have the screen around the filter. When I pulled mine from the Mustang, it had tons of small mosquitos and similar all caught in the nylon.

Wonder what they think at the Wal-Mart when you go through the check out line with a pair of pantyhose, lol.

If they ask Whitey, I just show them the tops of my thong. No problems that way. LOL
