Ok so I'm stubborn and just need some more reassurance... battery light was rarely flickering until today and now it comes on at idle but goes away under throttle... then driving home this evening battery started draining (light still wasn't always on) then it jumped up to full and drained quickly again.... so looks like I'm buying a new alternator am I right? Lol soooo autozone or junkyard?
Edit* drove for about 10miles with the meter this low

Have autozone test it and the battery while it's in the truck to be sure. You're going to go there anyways, why not make it easy on yourself with diagnosis? Good luck.

Plan is to pull it tomorrow and have them test it... do they test while it's hooked up to? I know napa and the like all bench test but didn't know they'd test on the vehicle... also don't know if I should risk the drive there in the truck; if I'm gunna have to take it off eventually (most likely) why not just go ahead... it's only time and money right? Lol
