I installed a snorkel on my Lexus this weekend. One of the hardest projects I've done, firstly because of cutting this 4.25" hole in my factory original fender.


It sucked doubly because, as it turns out, the HF hole saw's claims to suitability for metal are LIES. I should have known better. Drilling that hole was like wrestling a ferret on meth.

Seriously though, for metal cutting, Diablo is my go to.

How about some tap oil on the whole of the blade, and after some progress on the hole, too? But big holes in thin metal are hard. Sometimes a sacrificial 2x6 clamped on helps as it guides the pilot bit, but you can't always do that.

If you meant "why so long?", look at the blue dots... there were mounting holes all along that length that were drilled after the big hole.
