I'm not sure if anyone has read the Hyperion series by Dan Simmons but i think there is a long way to go before this version of AI gets to be a real problem. Lol

 

AI was still "sci-fi" just a couple years ago....

 

Working in IT for a living, I feel that AI actually has the potential for a lot more harm than it does good. I'm not a huge fan.

 

Skynet for instance...

Bill, I used to always use Victory Lap kits - but I couldn't find any of their kits this go around. This one was pieced together. I bought the bearings, slip ring, brushes, and rectifier from different sources.

 

in that series I was talking about ai finds a way to harness the human brain power when people use a technology gifted to them by the ai. I see ppl all around who would happily give up any form of hardship or work for a lower standard of living filled with complacency and stagnation.

Yeah, I see that as where we are heading in the western world with or without AI.
Without it, western gov'ts "create" enough wealth to have us all fat and happy as others toil away (mostly in Asia) so we can have bread and circuses.
With it, we can all be fat and happy, or overwhelmed by AI.
